Jesus Made The Good Confession Before Pilate

1Ti 6:11 But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness.

1Ti 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Jesus Made The Good Confession Before Pilate

1Ti 6:13 I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate,

1Ti 6:14 that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Jesus Made The Good Confession Before Pilate

1Ti 6:15 which He will bring about at the proper time--He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords,

1Ti 6:16 who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.

Jesus Made The Good Confession Before Pilate

Joh 18:33 Therefore Pilate entered again into the Praetorium, and summoned Jesus and said to Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?"

Joh 18:34 Jesus answered, "Are you saying this on your own initiative, or did others tell you about Me?"

Jesus Made The Good Confession Before Pilate

Joh 18:35 Pilate answered, "I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered You to me; what have You done?"

Joh 18:36 Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm."

Jesus Made The Good Confession Before Pilate

Joh 18:37 Therefore Pilate said to Him, "So You are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice."

What Is The Good Confession?

• Jesus confessed, spoke the same thing agreeing with the Father and the Holy Spirit, that He was King of Kings and Lord of Lords

• After dying for our sins and being raised to God’s right hand, He received all authority over Heaven and earth

• Jesus was equal with God, having the same Divine nature being the Son of God

Page 9: The Good Confession “…Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate, …” 1 Timothy 6:11-16

9

What Is The Good Confession?

• The Scriptures had foretold that God’s Son would receive all authority from the Father

• Jesus also proved Himself to be God’s Son by the miracles He performed

• The Father proved Jesus as the Son of God by raising Him from the dead

Joh 5:17 But He answered them, "My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working."

Joh 5:18 For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.

Joh 20:30 Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book;

Joh 20:31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.

Mat 10:28 "Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Mat 10:32 "Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven.

As Christians We Must Continue To Confess Jesus and Live Consistently with Our Faith

Heb 4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

Heb 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.

As Christians We Must Continue To Confess Jesus and Live Consistently with Our Faith

Heb 4:16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Heb 10:19 Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus,

As Christians We Must Continue To Confess Jesus and Live Consistently with Our Faith

Heb 10:20 by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh,

Heb 10:21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God,

Heb 10:22 let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

As Christians We Must Continue To Confess Jesus and Live Consistently with Our Faith

Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;

Heb 10:24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds,

Heb 10:25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
