From the Pastor …..

It was a great Sunday. We got to bless the backpacks and hear about wonderful mission opportunities. We got to sing songs of praise and hear from God’s word. In other words, we had church. I am thankful for the way in which the Spirit moves in our worship. The next challenge is what will we do with the Spirit’s leading?

It seems as though we always have several options when God’s presence is at work:

We can miss God’s voice.

We can ignore God’s voice.

We can hear God’s voice and misunderstand it.

We can hear God’s voice and be scared of where it leads.

We can embrace God’s direction and move faithfully to accomplish God’s purposes.

Our God is speaking to us as a congregation, and that voice is also speaking to you as an individual. This fall will you seek out God’s direction? Will you trust God’s leading? Will you hopefully embrace God’s promises? Will you have a faith that conquers fear?

Remember that it’s always easier to do nothing than something, but that isn’t better. Don’t settle for nominal faith. Seek ways to make Christ real for yourself and others. Pray more. Study more. Worship more. Love more. Risk more, because we serve a God of more.

I’m excited about the ways in which God is moving here. I can see the spark of the Spirit’s fire coming alive in our peo-ple. Let’s be faithful and participate in God’s revival!

WE NEED TRAINED ERTs!

Early Response Teams are among the first people to go in areas after disasters, providing a Christian presence in addition to providing the help families need to stabilize personal property.

If you pay attention to the news, you realize that natural disasters are not uncom-mon in Mississippi. The Church needs to be ready to respond when this hap-pens. ERTs are the church's first wave of response.

If you are interested in becoming part of an ERT, please sign up using the link below. You can do this with a group from your church, or as an individual. If you've already been through training, check to see if your credentials are still current. You may need to re-certify. Sign up on the link below. REGISTER HERE:

We hope you enjoyed the two Chrismon trees that adorned our sanctuary Christmas 2018. Both trees, star toppers and numerous ornaments were donated. Many ornaments were donated in honor or memory of church members. We are still in need of ornaments to fill our trees. Monetary donations can be made directly to the Chrismon fund. October will be Ornament Month, when we will meet to hand make ornaments.
