Grace to you all in the name of Jesus, the all-powerful, all-knowing, only true and living God. Knowing Him expe-rientially is the path to peace and life eternal. It is so hard to believe we are within four months of an-other new year. As known for sometime now, time flies when you are growing older and having fun. The season we are eagerly awaiting is fall, meaning lower tempera-tures and humidity and a change of colors as well. Some-thing else that can change in the Fall is attitudes! As this happens, may we have an attitude of gratitude for His great blessings. You remember the catchy phrase for the time change which comes in November? Spring forward and fall back! I have been praying and thinking that we cannot change that but if we reversed it when it comes to our small group and worship attendance, what a blessing that would be. I am encouraged because we have a new small group meeting on Thursday night and they have had great attendance, even 14 one night. Consider now that the PC (Pastor's Challenge) is for a Fall Forward emphasis to honor God and bless others. As we are formulating details on this, please get your mind ready for up and coming things. Memorials Gifts

Dear Church Family, Wonderful people, we're so grateful for your love and prayers. We can't begin to thank you enough for the cards you've sent, the food you've brought, and the gifts you've given. Throughout this long, dreadful journey

we've learned to completely depend on God

and His promises (Philippians 4:6). He never

wavers; He remains forever faithful. Although

we don't entirely understand, God has chosen

to fulfill His promises to provide through His

children, "...do not forget to do good and to

share with others, for with such sacrifices God

is pleased" (Hebrews 13:16). You're building up

treasures in Heaven.

Thank you for being obedient to the Holy

Spirit's promptings. We love you all and are

thankful to be connected to you through the

shed blood of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.

Love in Christ,

Perry & Carolyn McCuller

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY YOUTH MINISTRY ~ DANIEL HARDING

Richard and Jackie Gillispie Children's Church Directors

This month the Gillespie's will begin lead-ing children's church! We would like to thank them immensely for all of the effort they have put into the new chil-dren's room along with the other volun-teers who have helped make the room a success!

Beginning September 11, children's church will be held in the new Children's Church room located in the old Library to the left of the Choir Room and will begin at 11:00 AM along with the Adult service. Parents are encouraged to attend with your children the first Sunday to meet the Gillespie's and get a feel for what your children will be doing in Kid's Church. Sunday School teachers will be taking your children who were present for Sunday School to children's church.

October 2nd ~ Middle School Blast All Students 6th – 8th Grade

Meet at 5pm in the Social Hall

Pizza and Fun Games until 8PM

Great Prizes will be awarded!

Upward note: Please begin to pray with us about our upcoming Upward Basketball season. Registra-tion will begin on October 16th and we are planning on another great year of basketball. We are specifi-cally looking for more coaches from our church members. Serving as a coach is a rewarding experi-ence and little to no basketball experience is needed. It would be great if some of our couples who have been through Upward with their children would con-sider being the face and fun of Upward for another generation of children. Specifically, we will need coaches for our 1-2 girls, 1-2 boys and our Kinder-garten league. Please see Daniel or David if you would be willing to bless others through the ministry of Upward Basketball.

AWANA Commanders Mike and Rachel Long

We would like to thank Daniel, David, Tim, The Gillespies and all the Awana workers and leaders who made kick-off a great big success. We would like to give a big shout out to Sonics, McDonalds, Dairy Queen and Zaxbys for donating coupons to our Awana program this year as incentives for clubber of the week. Please visit these businesses and thank them anytime you get a chance. Second Baptists' Awana theme this year is "Making A Difference". September's mission is Operation Christmas Child

Shoe boxes; also, September 21st is our theme night "Dress like a Pirate - Where do we find our REAL Treasure?" We are excited about our upcoming year and what God is going to do through Awana.
