Your AUSA Chapter is always in need of more leadership assistance. If you would like to participate on the Chapter executive committee, we are looking for more help. We meet once a month for a lunch meeting to plan our support to soldiers. Please reply to this email for date, time and location details. In October, I attended the AUSA annual meeting in Washington DC. For the 12th consecutive year, we were recognized as a national Chapter of Excellence and received 18 ribbons for our accomplishments. Below is a picture of me receiving awards from General Ham, President and CEO of AUSA and Sergeant Major of the Army Dan Dailey. This is an opportunity to publicly recognize outstanding Active, Army Reserve and Army National Guard Soldiers and Army ROTC Cadets. Your presence at the dinner is essential so these outstanding soldiers receive the recognition they have earned. Once we have the date for the 2019 awards and recognition dinner, we will let you know. Our Chapter membership is the engine that keeps us going. This includes local businesses we call Community Partner Members. The modest membership cost adds up with many members. Being an AUSA member is a very small cost, yet very important statement, that a business wants to support the U.S. Army in our community. If you know of a business in greater Tucson that would like to do something at a low cost to support U.S. Army Soldiers, please let me know. AUSA Community Partner memberships start at only $175 a year. Combine that with many members and it is has a big impact on what the Chapter can do. AUSA Scholarships

In 2018 National AUSA Gave Out 22 Scholarships Valued at Over $100,000.

Here is a small sample of the scholarships awarded in 2018:A $10,000 Van Autreve scholarship is awarded to Army ROTC Cadet Connor Lewis of Fayetteville, N.C., who is attending the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Two Gen. Jack N. Merritt Scholarships, each $5,000, are awarded to Cadet Emily Hummell, a member of the West Virginia University Army ROTC and Henri Rosser of Abingdon, Md., a student at Temple University’s Fox School of Business Management.

Three $2,000 scholarships are awarded to help pay off college debt. New Hampshire National Guard Sgt. Michael Bichrest; Air Force 2nd Lt. Megan Morrissey of Grand Rapids, Minn.; and Army veteran and now Army civilian Edwin Westbook of El Paso, Texas, receive the scholarships.

Three additional ROTC scholarships of $4,000 each were awarded earlier this year.

AUSA Family Programs

AUSA Family Programs Collaborates with Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University (MFRI)

On November 29, 2018 AUSA was honored to collaborate with the Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University (MFRI) on an all-day event titled “Building Your Battle Plan to Support Military and Veteran Families.”

The event, held on Nov. 13 at AUSA’s Gordon R. Sullivan Conference and Events Center in Arlington, Va., featured experts and authors from MFRI’s initiative, “A Battle Plan for Supporting Military Families collectively built viable solutions that can be strategically implemented during a future major conflict.”

The highlight of the day was the presentation of the 2017 and 2018 MFRI Excellence in Research on Military and Veteran Families Awards.

Milley, Chief of Staff of the Army, on January 16. Continuous learning points information and details are below.

Continuous learning points may be awarded when participating at professional development seminars, symposia, or conferences hosted by the Association of the United States Army (AUSA). AUSA’s professional development programs include the Institute of Land Warfare (ILW) General Bernard W. Rogers Strategic Issues Forums, Hot Topics, and Contemporary Military Forums. Attending these programs may be worth up to .5 points per hour
