CULTURE•Two different groups of people called the GREAT SMOKEY MOUNTAINS home but they had opposing ideas on the land.•Cherokee Indians.•Frist people•Came in 1212•Lived there for 800 years•1838 they were forced to travel west to Oklahoma•Early settlers•Came in early 1800’s•Forced the Cherokee to travel on foot to Oklahoma from Tennessee.•TODAY•Around 9,008,830 people visit the park today

ROCKS AND MIARALS

• Most rocks in the smokes are sedimentary

• They wear formed of acumilashaons of clay, silt ,gravel ,and minor amounts of calcium carbonate

• The oldest rocks about 800-545 years ago.

• As more of theas sediments wear deposited they wear compressed into 9 mile thick sedimentary rock.
