The Great War1. Creation as Kings

Genesis 1:26-28God said, "Now we will make humans, and they will be like us. We will let them rule the fish, the birds, and all other

living creatures." So God created humans to be like himself; he made men and women. God gave them his blessing and said: Have a lot of children! Fill the earth with people and bring it under your control. Rule over the fish in the ocean,

the birds in the sky, and every animal on the earth.

The Great War1. Creation as Kings

Psalm 8:3-8I often think of the heavens your hands have made, and of the

moon and stars you put in place. Then I ask, "Why do you care about us humans? Why are

you concerned for us weaklings?" You made us a little lower than you yourself, and you have

crowned us with glory and honor. You let us rule everything your hands have made. And you

put all of it under our power--the sheep and the cattle, and every wild animal,

the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and all ocean creatures.

The Great War2. Abdication of Rule

Genesis 3:1The snake was sneakier than any of the other wild animals

that the LORD God had made. One day it came to the woman and asked, "Did God tell you not to eat fruit from any tree in

the garden?"

The Great War2. Abdication of Rule

Romans 6:16Don't you know that you are slaves of anyone you obey? You can be slaves of sin and die, or you can be obedient slaves of

God and be acceptable to him.

The Great War2. Abdication of Rule

John 12:31This world's people are now being judged, and the ruler of

this world is already being thrown out!

John 14:30I cannot speak with you much longer, because the ruler of

this world is coming. But he has no power over me.

John 16:11And they are wrong about the judgment, because God has

already judged the ruler of this world.

The Great War3. Redemption as Children

Matthew 28:18-20Jesus came to them and said: I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth! Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to do everything I have told you. I will be with you always, even

until the end of the world.

The Great War3. Redemption as Children

Revelation 1:17-18When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead person. But he

put his right hand on me and said: Don't be afraid! I am the first, the last, and the living one. I died, but now I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys to death and the world of

the dead.

Matthew 16:19I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven, and God in

heaven will allow whatever you allow on earth. But he will not allow anything that you don't allow.

The Great War3. Redemption as Children

Colossians 2:13-15You were dead, because you were sinful and were not God's people. But God let Christ make you alive, when he forgave all our sins. God wiped out the charges that were against us

for disobeying the Law of Moses. He took them away and nailed them to the cross. There Christ defeated all powers

and forces. He let the whole world see them being led away as prisoners when he celebrated his victory.

The Great War3. Redemption as Children

Romans 8:16-17God's Spirit makes us sure that we are his children. His

Spirit lets us know that together with Christ we will be given what God has promised. We will also share in the glory of

Christ, because we have suffered with him.

1 Corinthians 6:1-3When one of you has a complaint against another, do you

take your complaint to a court of sinners? Or do you take it to God's people? Don't you know that God's people will judge the world? And if you are going to judge the world,

can't you settle small problems? Don't you know that we will judge angels? And if that is so, we can surely judge

everyday matters.

The Great War4. Conscription into Service

2 Corinthians 5:20We were sent to speak for Christ [as his ambassadors], and God is begging you to listen to our message. We speak for

Christ and sincerely ask you to make peace with God.

Ephesians 6:19-20Pray that I will be given the message to speak and that I may fearlessly explain the mystery about the good news. I was

sent to do this work [as an ambassador], and that's the reason I am in jail. So pray that I will be brave and will speak

as I should.

2 Timothy 2:1-4Timothy, my child, Christ Jesus is kind, and you must let him

make you strong. You have often heard me teach. Now I want you to tell these same things to followers who can be trusted to tell others. As a good soldier of Christ Jesus you must endure your share of suffering. Soldiers on duty don't

work at outside jobs. They try only to please their commanding officer.

2 Corinthians 4:4The god who rules this world has blinded the minds of

unbelievers. They cannot see the light, which is the good news about our glorious Christ, who shows what God is like.

The Great War5. Domination of the Earth

1 Corinthians 15:25Then after Christ has destroyed all powers and forces, the

end will come, and he will give the kingdom to God the Father. Christ will rule until he puts all his enemies under his

power, and the last enemy he destroys will be death.

Revelation 12:10-11Then I heard a voice from heaven shout, "Our God has shown

his saving power, and his kingdom has come! God's own Chosen One has shown his authority. Satan accused our people in the presence of God day and night. Now he has

been thrown out! Our people defeated Satan because of the blood of the Lamb and the message of God. They were

willing to give up their lives.

Psalm 17:8-9Protect me as you would your very own eyes; hide me in the

shadow of your wings. Don't let my brutal enemies attack from all sides and kill me.

Luke 11:1-2When Jesus had finished praying, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his followers to pray." So Jesus told them, "Pray in this way: 'Father, help us to honor your name. Come and set up your kingdom. '"

Matthew 17:14-21Jesus and his disciples returned to the crowd. A man knelt in front of him and said, "Lord, have pity on my son! He has

a bad case of epilepsy and often falls into a fire or into water. I brought him to your disciples, but none of them could heal him." Jesus said, "You people are too stubborn to have any faith! How much longer must I be with you? Why do I have to put up with you? Bring the boy here." Then Jesus spoke sternly to the demon. It went out of the boy, and right then

he was healed.

Matthew 17:14-21Later the disciples went to Jesus in private and asked him,

"Why couldn't we force out the demon?" Jesus replied: It is because you don't have enough faith! But I can promise you

this. If you had faith no larger than a mustard seed, you could tell this mountain to move from here to there. And it

would. Everything would be possible for you. But only prayer and fasting can force out that kind of demon.

2 Chronicles 20:21-24Then he explained his plan and appointed men to march in

front of the army and praise the LORD for his holy power by singing: "Praise the LORD! His love never ends." As soon as they began singing, the LORD confused the enemy camp,

so that the Ammonite and Moabite troops attacked and completely destroyed those from Edom. Then they turned

against each other and fought until the entire camp was wiped out! When Judah's army reached the tower that

overlooked the desert, they saw that every soldier in the enemy's army was lying dead on the ground.

Matthew 10:5-8Jesus sent out the twelve apostles with these instructions: Stay away from the Gentiles and don't go to any Samaritan

town. Go only to the people of Israel, because they are like a flock of lost sheep. As you go, announce that the kingdom of heaven will soon be here. Heal the sick, raise the dead to life,

heal people who have leprosy, and force out demons. You received without paying, now give without being paid.

Mark 16:17-18Everyone who believes me will be able to do wonderful

things. By using my name they will force out demons, and they will speak new languages. They will handle snakes and

will drink poison and not be hurt. They will also heal sick people by placing their hands on them.

John 14:12I tell you for certain that if you have faith in me, you will do the same things that I am doing. You will do even greater

things, now that I am going back to the Father.

1 Corinthians 2:1-4Friends, when I came and told you the mystery that God had

shared with us, I didn't use big words or try to sound wise. In fact, while I was with you, I made up my mind to speak only

about Jesus Christ, who had been nailed to a cross. At first, I was weak and trembling with fear. When I talked with you or preached, I didn't try to prove anything by sounding wise. I

simply let God's Spirit show his power.

Revelation 20:5-6These people are the first to be raised to life, and they are

especially blessed and holy. The second death has no power over them. They will be priests for God and Christ and will rule with them for a thousand years. No other dead people

were raised to life until a thousand years later.

2 Timothy 2:11-13Here is a true message: "If we died with Christ, we will live with him. If we don't give up, we will rule with him. If we

deny that we know him, he will deny that he knows us. If we are not faithful, he will still be faithful. Christ cannot deny

who he is."
