St. Gregory the Great

Mission Statement

St. Gregory the Great is a Catholic Church made up of people of many different ages, talents, and cultural backgrounds. We are an urban faith community with a small town feel of welcome and hospitality. Motivated by our baptismal calling, we accept our duty to embody the presence of Jesus Christ in the world and to take up the mission he entrusted to us by our word and example. We glorify God through support and service of our time, talent, and treasure to our church and to the larger community in which we live.

NEW ASIAN CATHOLIC INITIATIVE WEBSITE The Asian Catholic Initiative (ACI) Office of the Archdiocese of Chicago is newly established under the Department of Parish Life and Formation by Archbishop Blasé Cupich. Its purpose is to provide outreach and networking that is easily accessible to Asian Catholics. As a link to the archdiocese, ACI provides facilitation of information between the archdiocese, and parishes or individuals. ACI maintains the www.aciarchchicago.org website, whereby all Asian Catholic activities in the archdiocese may be included, highlighted, showcased, and shared. The office of ACI is decentralized and is located at St. Hilary Parish.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

As we begin Advent we are called to “wait” in joyful anticipation for the grace of Christmas to once again bless our lives. Wherever you live in our parish, there are poor families within walking distance of your home. When in need , they ring the parish center bell. They are, in effect, ringing your doorbell. Your gift in the St. Vincent de Paul poor box will help the poor celebrate the grace of God’s love this Christmas

ALPHA INTRODUCTION Alpha is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in an informal, fun and friendly environment. A typical Alpha evening consists of a meal, a short talk about the Christian faith and small group discussion. Alpha is for everyone. No question is out of bounds, and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish. We don’t assume any background knowledge of or belief in Christianity, and everyone is welcome. If you are interested, there will be an initial meeting on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the Cardinal Meyer Center, Chicago. There will be two sessions – one from 1-3p.m. and one from 6:30-8:30p.m. Please call 312-534-8107 to register.

GIVE CENTRAL DONATION CARDS You will now find in the plastic holders at the end of each pew a card that says, I support St. Gregory the Great with electronic giving through GiveCentral. If you are enrolled in GiveCentral, take one of the cards every Saturday or Sunday and place it in the basket when the collection is taken up. This past weekend, we had ten people who used the cards and put them in the collection basket. – Fr. Paul
