I am excited about the New Year and all the possibilities that come with it.

2012 looks like an interesting and exciting year.

For the first—and probably only time in my life—the Olympic Games will be

held in Britain. I love sport and am inspired by the Olympic ideal ‘Faster,

Higher, Stronger’. It is my dream that Life Church would grow faster, reach

higher and become a much stronger community. We thank God for a great

past but expect an even greater future.

I am one of the 20 million people who unsuccessfully applied for tickets.

Even many athletes families did not get tickets. The reality is, the only way

to be guaranteed to be in the stadium is to qualify as a competitor.

“Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to

get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.”

1 Corinthians 9:25 TNIV

In 2012 don’t sit on the sidelines. Get involved in our many church and

community initiatives. Together we can truly make the world different.

Enjoy a great Christmas with family and friends, including a well earned

rest from work. You’ll be refreshed and ready to give all you can to make

2012 your best year yet!

marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus”

As we head deeper into 2012, we are believing together to go Faster, Higher,

Stronger. We will be looking repeatedly at what that means for us as

individuals, across our church community and in our world.

I really believe this is not just a one off teaching series—its what God is calling

us to do because of who he wants us to be and the many people that need

to be reached with a message of love and hope.

We expect to have our playing field (adjacent to the new building) back in

use soon and are planning to make use of this space with some great

community events this summer.

Let me encourage you to get along to the events in The Guide, be active in

serving, generous in giving and make an extra effort this Easter to bring

people. The Christmas Stories was world class and The Easter Stories will

be next level! A truly unmissable event for anyone in Lancashire!

In January I shared the crystal clear, compelling, consistent and confident

vision of the church God has called us to be.

To achieve all God has called us to, we need a new level of devotion to God

and his church. Together we are strengthening our resolve to build a great

church that doesn’t just make a difference but makes Lancashire different!

Acts 2:42 tells us

“They devoted themselves”.

Its time for us all to do the same.
