The team’s unique design kept installation costs low, by utilizing the facilities and experi-ence already in place from the guard unit and Boeing’s modification, aircraft, and brake expertise.

Air Force Electronic Security Systems Team 148The Electronic Security Team of the 18th Security Forces Squadron (PACAF) at Kadena AB, Japan, is comprised of eight personnel from three functional areas, focused on improving security alarm reliability and performance to reduce time spent responding to nuisance, false and faulty alarms.

Air Force Haiti FLT OPS Coordination CTR Team 154The Haiti Flight Operations Coordination Center sequenced humanitarian air-flow and alleviated ramp congestion at Haiti’s Port-au-Prince Airport. Using in-novative ground-reservation and flight-tracking processes, US and Canadian Airmen partnered with the World Food Programme to sequence 3,940 flights, enabling the largest disaster recovery effort in US history.

Air Force Periodic Inspection Smart Ops Team 147The Periodic Inspection Smart Operations Team targeted areas for improvement identified through cross-tell with inspection sections across the Air Force. Trans-formational initiatives, including the first-ever use of WAVE mobile platforms for on-aircraft maintenance, cut waste and gained efficiency through inexpensive, flexible processes and technologies that are exportable across DOD.

Air Force Rapid Reaction SQ ENG Team 250The Rapid Reaction Squadron provides support to AFSPC, US Strategic Com-mand, and other DOD agencies. The RRS manages select space, cyberspace, and intelligence related operational concept demonstrations, prototype and risk reduction projects, and developmental efforts when rapid reaction is mandated. The RRS provides expedient solutions to warfighter critical needs.
