 The Hermosa Festival also known as Zamboanga La Hermosa Festival or popularly knownas Fiesta Pilar  a month-long festival held each year in the city of Zamboanga, the city center ofZamboanga Peninsula Region in the Philippines. It is one of the ldest !estival in the "ountryand the most awaited #vent in the Region.

 The !estival is being held in honor of the miraculous image of Our Lady of the Pillar  $%panish and

"havacano& 'uestra %e(ora del Pilar), the patroness of Zamboanga "ity which is held in every *+ctober. It is also the patroness of Zaragoa in %pain, the sister city of Zamboanga in Philippines

History

 The Zamboanga La Hermosa Festival embedded in Zamboangas rich history of devotion to theNuestra Señora del Pilar that is supplemented by rich legends.

In the %panish #ra, Zamboanga was an integral part of %panish "oloniation. In */0, the%paniards built a fort in Zamboanga named 1Real Fuerza de San Jose in 2rgy. Zone I3 area tosecure them against the attacks of the moro warriors. %paniards held the city as a seat ofgovernment and became the cultural center of the south, and was deeply seated in 4ispanic

heritage and tradition.

In *5/6, The 7ady1s was brought to the fort as a front piece for the main entrance. The westernside of the fort was converted into a shrine for The 7ady when the fort was rebuild in *89 andthe fort was renamed Real Fuerza de Nuestra Señora Virgen del Pilar and some also calledthe fort as Real Fuerza de Nuestra Señora Virgen del Pilar de Zaragoza because of thesame name of the 2asilica in Zaragoa, %pain.

 The citys devotion to the Lady of Pilar  was legendary, because of the wealth of stories, miracles,and apparitions surrounding the virgin for the past few years in the city as people what believed.
