The Cabinet of Dr Caligari 1919 This was one of the first horror films made and is
still referred to as ‘the granddaddy of all horror films.’
It is a film with mystery, murder, death, madness, kidnap and insomnia.
The film has a particularly uneasy and disturbing feeling to it as the audience never quite know who is sane and who is mad.

Other early Horror films 1900’s In the early horror films there is
only good and bad people and not anyone who is in the middle.
They are also very simple and stereotypical like bats meaning vampires are around and full moons relating to werewolves.
In 1910 silent films were very popular among the public, ‘Frankenstein’ was one of the reasons for this.
