World Meeting of Families Prayer

September 22-27, 2015 - Philadelphia

God and Father of us all,

In Jesus, your Son and our Savior,

You have made us Your sons and daughters

in the family of the Church.

May Your grace and love

help our families

in every part of the world

be united to one another

in fidelity to the Gospel.

May the example of the Holy Family,

with the aid of Your Holy Spirit,

guide all families, especially those most troubled,

to be homes of communion and prayer

and to always seek Your truth

and live in Your love.

Through Christ our Lord, Amen

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, pray for us!

Renew your marriage! Save the date: Sunday, February 8th. At 3pm that afternoon is an opportunity to attend a married couples retreat. We promise that no one has to speak in public if they don't want to. We'll hear live and recorded talks, have time for couple dialogue, silent meditation, and pray for inspiration from Joseph and Mary and Jesus. We are planning on arranging child care in the church basement. Following the retreat at 5pm in Padre Hall, the Knights of Columbus will have a Valentines dinner for all cou-ples, husbands and wives, widows and widowers (not just KC mem-bers) If you would like to attend call Tom LeFaive, 605-280-7865. More information will be coming.

Fellow KC's: if someone wishes to lead this dinner planning, three other men are ready to help.

“Star of Bethlehem”

A wonderful movie of the stars of heaven and Jesus’ birth

will be shown Sunday, December 28th at

11:10 am and 5pm - Join us in the Life Lounge!

Please pray for our youth preparing for Confirmation, and their retreat at Terra Sancta Friday and Saturday.

Fr. Ron Garry’s blessing: that we receive God’s eternal gifts,

and love because God first loved us, as beloved stewards.

Make us true servants to all those in need,

Filled with compassion in thought, word and deed;

Loving our neighbour, whatever the cost,

Feeding the hungry and finding the lost.

Lord, make us prophets to cry out the way,

telling the nations of mercy’s new day.

Let us break barriers of hatred and scorn,

speaking of hope to all people forlorn

Lord, make us healers of body and mind;

give us your power to bring sight to the blind;

Love to the loveless and gladness for pain,

Filling all hearts with the joy of your name.

May we live close to the Lord, as did St John the

Evangelist

(refrain) John heard Jesus, pray at the Last Supper

to the Father above: I revealed your name to

them, keep them in your love.

Consecrate them in the truth.

1. John, a son of thunder, fishing with his brother, bold and strong in his

youth: Heard the voice of Jesus, dropped his nets & followed, left his

father for the truth

2. At the Cana wedding, with Jesus and Mary, "Son, they have no more

wine."

Miracles and wonders, joy and love outpouring, Jesus, the eternal sign.

3. Peter, James, and John, on the Tabor mountain, Jesus, O so bright:

Moses and Elijah, showing the Messiah, truth has come to light.

4. At Passover supper, ate His Sacred Body, felt Him wash his feet:

Faithful at the cross, now the son of Mary, sacrifice complete.

5. Running with Peter, saw the empty tomb, Jesus, Risen Lord:

Pentecost fire, apostles inspired, unity with God restored.

6. Healing in the Spirit, preaching the word, thrown into the jail:

Jesus crucified, saving cornerstone, God's living word prevails.

7. Now beloved elder, saw the revelation of the first and the last:

witnessed the battle, heard angels singing, sorrow now is past.

Let us rejoice with Mary, and the children singing Sunday. Verses 1 & 2, by Fr. Christopher Uehlein, OSB 1974 OCP, the rest

composed for St John’s youth.

Gabriel spoke to Mary, Alleluia. Soon in your womb you will

carry, Alleluia. One who will rule for eternity, Alleluia.

Mary replied be it done to me. Alleluia.

Mary went off to the hill country. Alleluia. Visited ‘Elizabeth

happily. Alleluia. “Praise the Lord, O my soul,” she sang.

Alleluia. And her song through the ages rang. Alleluia

Joseph heard the angel, Alleluia. Good news of love he did tell,

Alleluia. Mary will be my bride, Alleluia. Jesus with us will abide, Alleluia.

Mary and Joseph obeyed, Alleluia. Trusted the paths God had made, Alleluia.

Jesus was born in a stable, Alleluia. To see God with us we’re able, Alleluia

Jesus was born on a holy night Alleluia. Shepherds rejoiced at the sight.

Alleluia. Kings brought gifts of gold Alleluia. Stories of love were told. Alleluia.

To the temple they brought him, Alleluia. People are saved from sin, Alleluia.

Simeon held baby Jesus, Alleluia. Now I can go in peace, Alleluia.

Evil king Herod was mad, Alleluia. His heart was so bad, Alleluia. Gabriel told

Joseph of danger, Alleluia. They went to Egypt as stranger, Alleluia.

After a time in exile, Alleluia. It was now safe for the child, Alleluia.

Mary and Joseph and Jesus, Alleluia. Nazareth, home in peace, Alleluia.

Mary remembered all this, Alleluia. In her heart was bliss, Alleluia.

Jesus grew as a boy, Alleluia. To the earth brought joy, Alleluia.

Christmas stories of love, Alleluia. Good news from God above, Alleluia.

We and our families can trust, Alleluia. Jesus our savior is with us, Alleluia.

"There are a lot of happy kids in Vvumba, Uganda," says Tony Koenig of Bonesteel Immaculate Conception Parish. He, his daughter and Greg Hausman recently returned from a great trip where the water project was completed. The local men had the well drilled, the school kids had the trenches dug, and we bought and laid the pipes, so there's running water in their school now. St John's parishioners and Catholic Daughters donated $3800 to the cause. Thank-you for your generosity and prayer.
