WELCOME TO ST. PAUL PARISH Whether you are new to the area or just visiting, we welcome you to our parish! If you’re interested in becoming a member, or just

want to find out more about us, contact the Parish office @ 262-968-3865 or go to our website: www.stpaulgenesee.net.

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Many of us have had the luxury of spending time with our own families and might still be blessed with their presence as this Christmas-tide is extended a couple days this year. Perhaps this time with family was not the blessing we would have wanted it to be because of a rift in the family or a loss that dampens the celebration. I, person-ally, am blessed with a great family so anytime I am with them I have a feeling of being blessed and I do not take this for granted.

This year I can’t help but think of all the people who are fleeing injustices and even life threatening situations as refugees. This is not a new thing in the history of the world (unfortunately). We can look at the Old Testament and see that migration and being refugees were a big part of the Israelite saga – 40 years in the desert fleeing from Egypt and deportation and return from Babylonian exile are a couple examples. Then we come to the Holy Family itself who fled to Egypt again to escape the “wrath” of Herod who slaughtered the Holy Innocents.

This is not news. It is not even any kind of great revela-tion. However, as I gather within the comfort of my family during this Christmas season, I will be mindful of those who will not be able to do the same (at least not in the safety of a home) and I will hold onto the blessings that come from being

in family. Fr. Chuck

Friday, January 1 at 8:45AM, St. Paul’s

See you at Mass!

End of Year Notice

For those who have yet to send in their Stewardship commitment card, you may still drop them in the collection basket or mail them to the Parish office. If you are unable to make a commitment at this time, we understand, please indicate this on your card and return it anyway.

If you want your year-end contributions posted for 2015 tax purposes, your contributions must be postmarked no later than Dec. 31, 2015 – or delivered to the Parish Office by 12:00 p.m. on Dec. 31.

If you wish to make a tax deductible donation to St. Paul Parish, please do so at this time.

The Parish office will be closed Dec. 24th, 25th and Jan. 1st.

CHRISTMAS THANKS!

Our pastoral staff members and we priests want to thank all of you who have been so generous to us this Christmas Season and throughout the past year.

Again this year there was such an outpouring of cards, gifts and greetings from so many of you that we simply will not be able to thank everyone personally and individually. We also want to thank the many people who continue to pray for us. Know that we are very appreciative and thankful.

Our entire staff is also thankful for the generosity of so many people who serve as volunteers for the betterment and life of our parish community and the neighborhood. Your lives are wonderful lessons of generosity that are truly inspiring. Every weekend and holyday there is a Mass offered for the intention of “the living and the deceased of our parish.” That includes all of you.

May God’s blessings and graces fill your life throughout 2016!

Happy New Year! Fr. Ralph

LA SAGRADA FAMILIA (THE HOLY FAMILY)

La Sagrada Familia is our Archdiocesan sister parish in the Dominican Republic. I wrote an article in the parish bulletin on November 29 describing the poverty and struggles of the 27,152 parishioners that make up the parish in the D.R. You should have received a mailing from the Archdiocesan Office for World Mission inviting you to participate in a collection to support the ministry that is going on in the parish. This week-end’s Feast of the Holy Family might be a great time to not only pray for the people who belong to La Sagrada Familia Parroquia, but to send a donation to the Office for World Mission. Your can use the reply card that was sent to you or go online and donate. (worldmissions.archmldonate.org) Thank you for your generosity!

Happy New Year to all Parishioners! The students, families, and faculty of St. Paul School wish each and every parishioner a very happy and blessed new year for 2016. We will continue to pray for you and your families throughout the year. We appreciate your support and interest in our school and invite you to tour our school any day of the week. We also invite you to volunteer in our school to share your skills and treasures like parishioners John and Sue Tilch, Dee Cassidy, Mary Kay Lammers, Jennifer Harder, Barb Dugan, Ed Brady, and Vera Switalski to name a few. We also ask you to pray for the students and staff of St. Paul School that we may accomplish all of our religious and educational learning goals.

Is your child ready for school or in need of a change? If you are interested in small-class sizes, a Christ-centered, values-enriched, technology infused, 21st century standards-based, safe instructional environment for your child we invite you to visit St. Paul School. We welcome you whether your child is turning three, four or five or you feel the need to change directions without waiting for the end of the school year. As we settle in to the second quarter, you are invited to contact the school office to chat or arrange for a tour at 968-3175. You will be glad you did!

St. Paul School 3-K Program Our new 3K program has been a huge success. Our new teacher, Miss Matyas is awesome, the room is perfectly set-up (thanks to the parishioner donations), and the 14 students are learning so much. Call to arrange a visit to see the room in action!

School Level Spelling Bee On Monday, Dec. 14 the St. Paul School level Spelling Bee was held with twenty participants from grades 4 through 8. It went twelve rounds with the championship word being stagflation. Mary Kepplinger, gr.8, was school champion and will move on to the CESA #1 regional bee in February. Second was Mor-gan Vavra, gr.8 and third was Mary McGuine, gr.6. Congratulations to all the participants.

John E. Shanahan , Ph.D., Principal

Happy Birthday to those celebrating a birthday.

A special wish to Gayland Hildebrandt who celebrates on Jan. 1

A blessed day to you.

Thank You !! I have been blessed to be a part of this parish community and serve you for over 30 years. I was able to bring my children here to our school each day, work in the parish office, and be involved with many great ministries and people.

I love St. Paul's. It is a great parish and I look forward to continu-ing to be a part of it in my retirement. I am excited to see it grow and flourish even more than it has over the past 30 years.

Thank you for all the support, love and blessings that I have re-ceived. God bless us all as we continue to grow in our faith and parish family.

Love and prayers, Rosemarie Etzel

Holy Day of Obligation

Friday, January 1 at 8:45AM, St. Paul’s

See you at Mass!

Our box of blessings overflowed on December 5th when a group of St. Paul’s youth traveled to Milwaukee's inner city to help the children from Reformation and the surrounding neighborhood make Christmas gifts for their loved ones. Before the big day, many St Paul elves from the 10th grade Confirmation program and the Family program baked cookies. St Paul 8th graders helped by wrapping boxes. Their love was so appreciated and resulted in smiles that went from ear to ear. Memories were made and friendships formed but most importantly God’s grace was felt by all those who partook in this beautiful day. A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped bring the magic of the Christmas Season to the hearts of our brothers and sisters at Reformation Lutheran in Milwaukee. Deb and Brian Schneider
