Description
It´s one of the oldest and tallest buildings
in Madrid.
The tower was built at the beginning of
the 15th century, and the house at the
end of the same century.
It´s a mudéjar and gothic style.
The Lujans Family
Luján is a surname that comes from Aragón.
It was one of the most extensive noble families of Madrid, originaly from Aragón.
The house was ordered to build by Álvaro Luján in 1494; the Luján family lived there until the eighteenth century.
The first owners of the house and the tower were the Lujanes that had Aragonese origin
The Front face
On the front face there are three shields.There
are weapons of the Lujans family.
Francis I of France
Francis I of France (1494-1547) was
imprisoned in the Tower of The Lujanes by the
emperor Charles V. After the defeat at the
Battle of Pavia in front the Spanish regiments.
The 16th and 17th Century
In the House and Tower of the Lujanes during
the 16th and 17th century Diego and Fernando
of Luján were living in it.

The House and the
Tower of the Lujanes
is located in The
Plaza de la Villa in
Madrid.
They are next to
Elbow street.
The 19th Century.
In the 19th century it was chosen to place
one optical telegraph station on the
Madrid-Aranjuez line because at that
time, it was one of the tallest buildings in
Madrid
The House and the Tower
of the Lujanes Nowadays.
Since 1858 it became the seat of several
companies and entities.
In 1910 the city hall chose an architect
called Luis Bellido González to restore
the building.
