Hello Everybody!

Season’s Greetings!

A scan through the technology news in the last month will tell you the kind of disruptions that technology like Articial Intelligence is creating. Man is indeed a wonderful creation but what man-made intelligence can do is something truly amazing. What is great about this is while our evolution has reached an ‘optimal level’, the evolution of technologies like Articial Intelligence has only just begun!

Some of the news articles like Google being able to predict death with 95% accuracy read like a page out of a science ction novel. Even though Machine Learning that is data-focused and Articial Intelligence has been around for decades, the algorithmic technologies have marked their presence in a number of industries and contexts the last couple of years. It is sounded to be the most important technology that anyone on this planet is working on today by industry experts. Along with AI, there are other IT areas like Cloud Computing and Big Data Analytics that are also hot areas for a career.

Intensive, thorough hands-on training with ethical practices is in huge demand today. Companies want the best trained candidates and if they can save on an already trained candidate, you are in for sure! Even though there is so much talk on AI, Big Data Analytics and Cloud Computing, there is little knowledge on how to go about getting trained.

Going through a job ready course right from the basics is crucial, especially if you are a fresher. Professionals should have the opportunity to be able to pick modules if they are already adept at the required programming language. This is why at IIHT we have tailor made, specialized, job ready courses that suit both – adapting the stack approach to courses. Here is where both students and professionals can pick all or any of the modules they need training in. It is after intensive research of my team in both, the technology and education that we have come up with the one-of-its-kind stack courses in Programming, Data Analytics, Cloud and AI that engages students with Blended Learning. The course gives access to actual labs (and not just a simulation) for students to get practical working experience in the environment even before their rst job! The blended learning method allows us to reach out to even rural students with internet connection, allowing

them training at revolutionary technologies with just a fraction of the cost! This, in recent times, has

been one of the best achievements of IIHT.

There is no doubt that latest technologies like Cloud, AI and Big Data Analytics is the future. It is up to you to make the best use of what is made available! All the best!

Online Learning:

Distance learning is what gave rise to online instruction. Distance education had 4 stages of evolution:

1. Printed instructions – that were mailed to students2. Broadcasting systems with use of early technology3. Online instructions – mostly over emails4. Internet based teleconferencing

Online instruction is basically any form of teaching or learning that takes place over the internet or even intranet. With advancement of online instruction, a new era of distance education opened up which contributed to the expansion of all kinds of educational opportunities making them available to people across geographical locations which allows learners global access to education. The main benet of online learning is timely delivery of training when employed people have to learn with time and pace in their control.

Drawbacks of online learning

Even with all the promising features of online instruction, there have been several drawbacks of online instructions. Here, we list the major ones:

1. Limited capability to engage learners 2. Learners reported a lack of a sense of community during the

online course which prevents development of emotions and shared feelings and thoughts between the instructors and the learners.

3. Learners often feel isolated in their course experience 4. Limited or no interaction with instructors during course

allows for little chance of feedback before the nal assessments.

Online leaning vs Blended learning: where does the learner satisfaction lie?

THE IIHT TIMES

Understanding the difference between online learning and Blended learning

Researchers have found that these are the most important variables that inuence learner satisfaction. This also affects learning transfer effectiveness to a large extent.

It has been argued that deliverance of vivid learning experience to online learners requires course designers to create a sense of presence, a broad awareness of the vivid and real environment and an immediacy feeling. All of this is covered by the Blended Learning System.

How Blended Learning overcomes the drawbacks of Online Learning

Blended instruction Systems have recently got a lot more usage especially amongst prime, private institutions that have a lot of opportunity related to place and time. The main intention of the development of a blended instruction method was to overcome all the shortcomings of online learning and make use of various instructional sequencing and also deliver strategies to improve learner satisfaction while also achieving increased outcomes from the learner side.

Blended Learning includes a learning method that has more than a single mode of instruction delivery which is used to optimize learning outcomes and decrease cost that is associated with program delivery. This also reduces the cost on the students, making the courses more accessible. It is also a great mix of technology-based learning with instructor-led learning. It also employs traditional, interactive-rich ways of classroom learning with innovative technology use like live video streaming and quizzes.

IIHT has achieved the best blend of traditional classrooms and online learning with the best technology backing of cloud based, browser accessed Learning Management Systems. Check out our stack courses that are all available in the blended learning forms.

Are you interested in Machine Learning? The present generation is abuzz with interest in Articial Intelligence and Machine Learning and this interest is only growing. But being just interested is very different from actually beginning to work in the eld. This article aims at letting you know what skills you will need to train in, if you seriously want to plan a career in machine learning:

1. Programming and Fundamentals of Computer Science: Fundamental concepts that include data structures like queues, arrays, stacks, graphs are important for Machine Learning engineers. A good understanding of computer architecture that includes deadlocks, memory, bandwidth, cashe, processing etc is a must. One must be able to apply, adapt, implement or address programming problems. Make sure you pick a Machine Learning course that also trains you with programming.

2. Probability and Statistics: Machine Learning algorithms use formal characterization of conditional probability, probability, Bayes rule, likelihood independence, etc and other techniques that are derived from them like Markov Decision Process, Bayes Nets, Hidden Markov Models etc. Statistical principles like distributions – Poisson, uniform, binomial, and measures like variance, median, mean etc are a must learn. Analysis methods like hypothesis testing, ANOVA are also helpful. A good number of Machine Learning algorithms are basically extensions of statistical modeling procedures.

3. Evaluation and Data Modeling: Data modeling is a process making an estimation of underlying structure of any dataset with being able to nd useful patterns like clusters, eigenvectors, correlations and more as predicting properties

of unseen instances. A major part of this estimation process would be continually making evaluation of any given model. Based on the task that needs to be performed, one will need to pick an appropriate error or accuracy measure and a strategy for evaluation.

4. Applying Machine Learning Algorithms and Libraries: The standard implementation of algorithms of Machine Learning are widely available via APIs, packages, libraries but applying them properly would need picking a suitable model, a learning procedure so as to t data, as well as understanding how hyper-parameters can affect learning. Knowing pros and cons of the different approaches is also important. Machine Learning and Data Science challenges can be taken up for practice after sufcient training.

5. System Design and Software Engineering: Machine Learning engineer’s deliverable and typical output is always software. Therefore it can be just a small component that will t into a bigger ecosystem of services and products. One will need to understand how these pieces work in coordination, communicate with them with use of APIs, library calls, database queries etc and be able to build appropriate interfaces for sake of the component that others will depend on.

Machine Learning Jobs are growing at a fast rate as companies want to make the most of emerging technologies. This makes Machine Learning a viable career option. But make sure you are prepared enough – with all pre requisite training needs met. IIHT’s AI/ML stack gives you the most thorough training with a unique opportunity to learn both R and Python approach to Machine Learning. For more details check: aimlstack.iiht.com

Get IT Job Ready

Ask I.T. Job Reddy

1. Is it relevant to learn Python or any otherprogramming language or frameworks with YouTube tutorials?

Hey! J

I wouldn’t recommend YouTube tutorials as this is not the most effective way to learn. Yes, you may grasp some really basic concepts (that you may not even learn to practically immediately apply) but if you want to work on actual projects seriously, then an instructor led training is paramount. If you prefer learning from the comfort of your home, then I would strongly recommend you to try a blended learning Python course that is a great combination of instructor-led training and online training.

2. Why is it difcult to nd a job these days?

Here is an interesting statistic to begin this answer…

Only 3.5% of engineers who pass out of college get an Engineering job!!!

Yet, there are tons of engineering, specically IT engineering jobs lying vacant! Isn’t that strange??? The real problem is not employment but employability. There is a huge gap between the IT industry and the education system. Read more here: Unemployability, the Main Reason for Unemployment

Our technology expert mascot, Mr. I.T. Job Reddy answers queries:

3. Why can’t we make just one computer languageand everyone including tech giants starts developing it and make it useful in every eld?

Good question! Well, a simple answer to your question would be - because…Innovation! All software at no point was monopolized. If it was, the software industry wouldn’t be able to do what it is doing today. Different software was developed by different groups of people… simultaneously, sometimes at different time lines, to solve different problems, and for different purposes… and let’s not forget… to work on different Operating systems. The world simply wouldn’t be the same without Opensource software.. that allows all kinds of modications and innovation. Read up what the world will feel like if we simply had a world standard: What the world would be like without open source technology
