What is the Illinois Terrorism Task Force?
• Established in 2000 and made permanent in 2003 as an advisory body to the Governor, Homeland Security Advisor and Illinois Emergency Management Agency
• Comprised of representatives of a variety of public and private entities including law enforcement, fire, emergency management, public health, military, DHS, schools, higher education and numerous private sector entities
• Works collaboratively to form the homeland security strategy, annual budget, and manner in which the State will best utilize its resources to prepare for manmade and natural threats

How Does It Work?
Curriculum is based upon national best practices in school and campus safety
Follows DHS, US Secret Service as well as FBI protocols
Contributors include Dr. Gene Deisinger, PhD and Dr. Melissa Randazzo, PhD, nationally known authorities on school and campus safety
Delivery is through a cadre of highly talented, well trained instructors with backgrounds in Law Enforcement, Education, Fire/Emergency Management, Mental Health and School / Campus Safety

Outcomes
• Participants of the Behavioral Threat Assessment Courses (Basic & Advanced) report the framework and processes are highly effective
• Anecdotal evidence that in several cases arising soon after the training course was held at a school, the new processes were effective in detecting and preventing a potentially violent incident
