Dutch Rainmaker

Dutch Rainmaker is working on revolutionary concepts for the production of fresh water. Located in Leeuwarden we form a consortium with several institutes and companies. The further expansion of this consortium facilitates the introduction of the Dutch Rainmaker concept worldwide.

Our system is based on a stand-alone wind turbine. The system’s wind turbine drives a heat pump which is directly powered by the wind turbine’s blades.

Air-to-Water; makes literally freshwater from AIR! Our system is placed in rain lacking regions. The heat pump vaporizes the water in the air which is condensed and collected for domestic or irrigation purposes. Especially suited for such environments if also devoid of briny, brackish or polluted water bodies. Water-to-Water; makes freshwater from seawater/polluted surface water! With our concept different water sources can be purified. The heat produced by the heat pump is used in a “flash evaporation” process. A relatively small windmill already has a significant capacity and can be used for drinking water, sanitation water or irrigation.

KWRBridging science to practice

The 170 employees of KWR Watercycle Research Institute are experts in a wide variety of aspects of the water cycle and the global water system. The experts are organised in teams within three research groups: Water Systems, Water Technology and Water Quality & Health. Together, they create integrated solutions whenever possible – solutions that transcend their individual fields of expertise. KWR is committed to an optimal harmonisation between the different water use activities and the surrounding water systems, and between the stakeholder organisations themselves. Only in this way optimal, effective and efficient social innovations can be created that contribute to a sustainable water cycle.

Biotechnology that purifies water and gas is Paques’ profession. Revitalizing resources is our motto.

Paques helps companies to contribute to the major challenges of today: to reduce carbon and water footprints and reclaim resources. Paques’ technologies have proven to be cost-effective and reliable solutions. They produce energy, recover valuable resources or are energy efficient. Paques’ anaerobic water purification systems produce energy from wastewater, whilst purifying the water and facilitating water reuse. The biogas produced in the purifying process is a source of green energy, growing in popular demand. Since the introduction of our first BIOPAQ® reactor in 1981, close cooperation with our partners has resulted in advanced integrated water and gas treatment.

The vortex generator was developed and patented by Pathema and its Swedish partners and forms the basis for all our solutions and products today. The Vortex Process Technology ® (VPT) is derived from the behavior of water. In the vortex generator, the water is pushed into a powerful rotation that extracts all micro- and nano bubbles out of the water. This continuous process influences the structure of the treated water so many benefits can be achieved with our various products.
