20 years of experiences: Lessons learned

• Implementing sustainable Infrastructure means planning and a process orientated approach

• Securing of a continuous process in implementing measures and the continuous optimisation is crucial

• Not only theoretical concepts and data collection, but implementing actions, main focus on initiating concrete activities and infrastructure projects in all areas of municipal energy- and climate policies.

• Definition of measures with a high cost benefit ratio, with the low costs and high benefits concerning energy saving and emissions reduction.

European Energy Award in Romania

• Co-financing up to 10 projects in the field of sustainable energy management in about 4 selected Romanian cities, with 37 Mio CHF, in the context of the Swiss enlargement contri-bution to eastern European countries

• Disseminate and intensify strategies for sustainable energy policies in Romanian cities, like e.g. “Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAP)” within the “Covenant of Mayors” initiatives of the European Commission.

• Introduction of the eea/Energy City-Management System recognized as one of the best implementing tools for SEAP, in selected Romanian cities .

• LCCC: Activity within the Global Program Climate Change of the SDC (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation)

• The LCCC-Program supports medium size Chinese municipalities in planning and implementation of their “Low Carbon”- Strategies.

• With planning instruments and implementation support, incl. an innovative indicator system, a comprehensive management approach is developed and employed.

• LCCC-Program is strongly based on the experiences with European Energy award
