Inspection System must be:
• Easy to use – operators can use the system and
understand the information to make process
improvements. Supevisors understand what the measures
mean and can make adjustments while inspecting.

The standard rejection
mechanism for tortillas is to
use a series of air knives
that are activated to reject
the defective products as it
passes over a 2 inch gap.
This system works well for
flexible tortillas and flat
breads.

Graphical User Interface
For any group of measurement
attributes the measurement
parameters can be adjusted
while inspecting.
The authorized operator can
do this by simply selecting the
green (in spec) tab or yellow
(marginal) tab and then press
the + or – until the desired
value is reached. Press save
and the revised tolerances will
then be used for inspecting or
rejecting product.

Measurement Parameters can be
turned off as a criteria for
rejecting product.
On the right you can see that
three of the four measurements
are shown as gray in color.
These have been turned off by
the authorized operator by
simply selecting them using the
touch screen. Note that even
though an attribute has been
turned off , for the purposes of
rejection, the data for that
measurement is still being
collected and can be reviewed
and analyzed at any time.

The system has a number of
displays and reports–
Trend graphs on individual
measurements and waste
overall, Pareto analysis of causes
of waste, graphical and
numerical representations of
mean and standard deviation of
each measurement, histograms
of measures, CP and CPK, etc
The system also keeps photos
and measures of the last 20
rejects so it is very easy to see
why a product was rejected.
Off Line Analysis – The system also
provides tools for offline analysis and
reporting as well as maintaining
historical data in a database.
