Social Protection
• OECDs definition of Social Protection (extract of OECD Policy Paper on Social Protection (SP) adopted 2008);
• SP is an investment in people, it enables households to invest in productive activities and human capital which raises their productivity and incomes. It also helps women and men living in poverty to adopt more sustainable strategies to tackle vulnerability (increases their resilience) and to pursue more effective strategies out of poverty e.g. more effective participation in the labour market.
