High Value Agricultural Produces Project
Due to the heavy uses of chemical fertilizer, pesticides and
insecticide in farming in the past, that caused to public
health problem and environmental issue.
The KU and exporters in the western region of Thailand
has initiated a high value agricultural produces project
(HVAP) with collaboration of farmer, public sector and
private organization since 2004.

The objective of the project
To upgrade the quality of vegetable for export and to
promote food safety concept for consumers. The good
agricultural practice (GAP) was developed in parallel with
the government food safety standard.

1. The farmer groups were trained to be qualified to apply for
Option 2 certification under GLOBALGAP. Under the service
capacity of 4 project consultants, the certificate achievements
was succeeded within the period of 9-12 months.
2. Organizing training course for farm advisor to be competent to
give service on GG implementation into Farmer Group.
3. To continue this mechanism of service provider, there need
further initiative mechanism in order to an expansion system of
service provider that must be standardized and recognized as a
viable and reliable, in particular.
4. There is also a need to establish the viable system to provide
consultants to be able to facilitate smallholder farmer group
under the linkage with supplier or exporter as well.
