Ten years ago where there was just barren land, now stands The Bishop’s Co-Ed school, Kalyani Nagar. The school celebrated its Tenth Founder’s Day on the 5th of July, 2013. The morning began with a soulful prayer service conducted Rev Sumesh Jacob accompanied by Mr. Frank. R. Freese, C.E.O & Honorary secretary along with his wife Mrs. Valerie Freese, the founder Headmistress. The newly designated prefect body bore the school flag and the house flags with pride and confidence. The ceremony commenced with the hymn “O God Our Help in Ages Past”. The entire service was administered by his grace, Rev. Sumesh Jacob . Other dignitaries who graced the occasion included Ms. Laurina D’cruz and other heads from the Bishop’s school- Camp and the Bishop’s school-Undri. After the prayers for the welfare of the school and the hymns, Rev. Jacob delivered a sermon on a rather relevant topic, The Attitude Of Gratitude. This was followed by a hymn “Hold the Fort” sung melodiously by the congregation. The prayer service concluded with the recession of the flags on the hymn “Onward Christian soldiers.” However, there was more to this day of celebrations. Our esteemed guests and students later enjoyed an intriguing game of football and basketball between the students and the staff. Speaking to the students after the Service, this very chord echoed throughout. Aniket Ghatnakar of class nine said, “Praising the Lord for His graciousness blest my inner soul.” Kirit Thadaka, an alumnus, felt nostalgic – “Coming back to Bishop’s makes me really miss school and makes me wish I was a student here again.” Tushar Chand of class ten said, “Bishop’s school is the chariot carrying us to our dreams. It is a cocoon – nurturing us now, that we may fly out into the world tomorrow.” The Headboy – Aditya Mukherjee, and the Headgirl – Joanna Sam said “We are extremely grateful to the Founders of our school today. It has been a glorious decade. This being our last year here, we are all the more proud and happy. We are truly honoured to call ourselves Bishopites.”
