by Sue Kirkby, 54 Veymouth Street, Wmel Hem~stead. Hertfordshire and Stan “errinder. 19 “azeldene. Seaford, East Sussex.

This newsletter has a very professional look to it. The editors have made very good use of the feat”res available on their computer package. so often editors ace tempted to make “se of many of the f”“ctio”~ available and consequently spall the final product. Yerrlnder Yle”5 clearly has already developed a Style Of its 0”“. me font 15 Of a good size. an* has reproduced well. This issue has 10 pages and in a note, the editors say they have decided to restrict future ‘SSU~S to 10 pages in order to limit the time went typing an* editing.

The articles are easy to read and even at this early stage. ha5 a few pieces written by other Co”tIlb”torS. There is a mix Of new5 items and research related articles. one article. “* 16th century Brush with the LB”” gives the reader a good feel of life in the mid 1500s. 1t has a good reproductfan of part Of a star Chamber Bill Of COrnplaInt together with the full transcript which relates to the theft of four loads of hay.

I only have one suggestion for Improvement. and that would be the inc1usion of er~lanatory trees. or notes re@rdi”g some of the people referred to in the text, far those readers wno may not be 50 familiar with the various lines. I do h0we”er accegt. that explanatory text cd” take up a lot of valuable space. and often by the time some trees are reproduced. they cannot be read clearly.
