Conclusion Coryphantha pallida Britton & Rose is a valid taxon. Its distribution area and its variability are much wider than indicated in the literature. . Cotyphantha reduncuspina BMecker and Coryphantha pseudoradians Bravo are descriptions of local forms of the same species and therefore more recent synonyms. Coryphantha calipensis Bravo is not sufficiently distinct from Coryphantha pal/ida Britton & Rose to be a separate species. But C.calipensis has a disjunct distribution area and enough characters to be separated from C.pallida as a subspecies. We designate the herbarium specimen "MEXU 60655, Calipim al Sur de Tehuacim, Puebla, Feb.1960, H.Bravo H." as the holotype of Coryphantha pal/ida ssp. calipensis.

Lectotypification of Several Sections in Mammillaria Haw -An Addition by Alexander B.Doweld

Since submitting the text of my article which appeared on page 43 of the August 2000 issue of the Journal of the Mammillaria Society I have received some additional information which makes it necessary to amend the two final sections. The Bibliotheque Nationale de France, Paris, have sent me a copy of Lemaire's publication of 1639, on which basis I have rewritten Sections 8 & 9 as follows:-

Sect 8 Glanduliferae Salm-Dyck in Walpers, Repert. 2(2): 272. 1843, nom. inval. Lectotype (Ioc. design.): M.aulacothele Lem.

Note Heath (1986:28) erroneously selected M.brevimamma Pfeiff. as a lectotype of the section, not taking into consideration that this section contains M.aulacothele Lem. (in Salm­Dyck, 1650: 19 pro syn. sub M.macrothe/e Mart.!.), a type species of validly and earlier published Mammillaria sect.

Aulacothe/ae Lem., Cact. Gen. Nov. Sp. Nov.92. 1839, in annot., and therefore, should be treated as a later homotypic synonym of Lemaire's section.

Note: M.aulacothele Lem., typified sect. Aulacothelae Lem. (Art. 22.4, ICBN), has been included by Salm-Dyck into sect. Glanduliferae; and therefore, the section of Salm-Dyck, essentially different from validity and earlier published sectional homonymic name by Lemaire (1639), should be treated as illegitimate later homonym and disregarded.
