The Kim Family Legacy

Generations 1-3

Page 2: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

No one is really quite sure when half-vampire Ryker Kim took his third wife a fellow half-vampire and started the legacy that spanned for 26 generations. However, at some point following the departure of the Goldweaver family from Loros, Ryker returned to his homeland and

married Marie Dowell.

Page 3: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Very few records remain from the first generation of the family. We do know that Marie and Ryker had one child, a son they named Andrew. It is still a mystery how they had

a child to begin with. But most scholars think that their half-human natures allowed for it to be possible.

Page 4: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Andrew Kim was best known for being inducted to the

Society of Llamas. This long standing Lorian society had been in existence for nearly

300 years. Andrew became particularly close to two members Glen

and Cherry.

Page 5: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Glen by far was Andrew’s chief advisor during the duration of his time as heir of the family estate. It is thought that he

was the first to suggest the construction of The White Tower. However, while Andrew chose a plot of land to house this

project, construction did not begin during his reign.

Page 6: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Andrew chose to marry Suzie McHugh a woman of gypsy decent. The first heir to the Kim estate is

said to have been very much like his father. According to photographs and gypsy journals,

Andrew proposed marriage in a swim suit.

Page 7: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

As with all the major family celebrations, the first official wedding party was held at the

stroke of midnight.

Page 8: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Despite the fact that Andrew and Suzie were primarily concerned with

building up the economy of Loros, the two did have children.

Page 9: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

In fact, Andrew was the father of the Kim family’s first natural set of twins. His heiress Beatrice and her twin

brother Barnabas. Traditionally, only the first born of any generation seems to follow an alphabetical naming

pattern. Spares, adopted children etc do not seem to have been required to follow this rule.

Page 10: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

The family patriarch Ryker was extremely close to both his child and grandchildren. However, he does not seem to have had a

particularly close relationship with his son’s wife.

Page 11: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Perhaps Suzie reminded him too much of his first and second wife. The legacy’s second spouse is best known for helping the family purchase Greenwich Manor in the capital city of Valenwood of Waterfall Springs.

It is said that she secured both of her children tutelage in the art of teleportation.

Page 12: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Andrew due to his eccentrics set the Kim family estate on fire a total of 15 times over the course of his life.

Scholars believe this may be the leading cause behind the lack of surviving historical records from the early

generations of the family’s history.

Page 13: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

The family spare of the generation Barnabas seems to have inherited a serious disposition

from his grandmother Marie. He’s best known for his trips to other worlds and bringing back

much of their knowledge.

Page 14: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

His sister Beatrice was family minded like her grandfather, but seems to have inherited a creative spirit

and more level head from her mother Suzie. She was the first heir to the family to use the ancient well

of Waterfall Springs to find her one true love.

Page 15: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

She and her brother both attended the same university as their father, Lorian State University, though neither was inducted into the Society of Llamas. Photographs from Andrew and Suzie’s elder birthday show that both children chose to

be part of the festivities.

Page 16: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

A great bonfire was lit at Andrew and Suzie’s transition into elderhood. It would appear however, that Andrew requested it especially for his wife since a great bonfire has only been lit when a spouse has had gypsy origins.

Page 17: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Beatrice oversaw the first major renovations to the first legacy home. During her reign as heiress, a

garage was added to the side of the house, along with a pool, the cowplant yard, and the treasury.

Page 18: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

The treasury was an octagon shaped room at the back of the lot. This room housed all the families accumulated

treasures including copies of maps, a copy of the dragon legend scroll, souvenirs obtained from journeys afar, family portraits, and treasures dug up at various locations such as

gold bowls, treasure chests, and vases.

Page 19: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Beatrice Kim married her teenage sweetheart Alon Livingston. Only the family’s founding couple seems to

have been able to attend the ceremony.

Beatrice’s parents are believed to have been working late shifts.

Page 20: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Scholars believe that Beatrice’s twin brother was not in attendance at the wedding since he

was off world at the time.

Page 21: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

No doubt, Beatrice’s new little brother Adrian was sleeping. Adrian joined the family when the Valenwood high council accidentally dropped the young boy off at the wrong home. Having no real reason why they could not raise him, Andrew and Suzie chose to allow him to

stay.

Page 22: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Due to his red hair, young Adrian was often mistaken for Beatrice’s son rather than her little brother. He was a playful child who loved nothing more than spending hours on the dart board with one of his

relatives.

Page 23: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

He was also more than willing to play dolls with his rather eccentric uncle Barnabas.

Page 24: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Adrian is most notably known for assisting his sister Beatrice and her husband Alon in their frequent journeys to the regions of Valenwood particular his homeland of Waterfall Springs.

Page 25: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Eventually though, Adrian Kim married a woman of Lorian named Tosha Go. He met Tosha in high school and was devastated when somehow the young girl managed to be

eaten by the family’s cowplant while visiting the Kim Estate. It is still a mystery to this day how the gate came to be

unlocked.

Page 26: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Fortunately, the family was in possession of a bone phone and several experienced advisors who could help Adrian contact

death and have her returned to life. The cost was that Tosha’s family frightened by the experience did not want the girl to return home. Therefore, she spent the

rest of her teenage years residing with the Kim’s.

Page 27: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

The second generation spare Barnabas also chose to remain at the legacy home. He never married, but became the father of

one son.

Page 28: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Csaba Kim was born in the middle of winter and grew up

alongside his cousins.

Page 29: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Andrew seemed to suffer from early onset dementia and took very little role in advising his daughter during

her reign. He continued to set fire to the home, but also quite

frequently is said to have passed out in his food. According to advisor Glen’s journals, Andrew nearly

starved to death twice.

Page 32: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

To help her husband, Suzie taught her husband an ancient gypsy art known to help

individuals improve memory and focus.

Page 33: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Suzie Kim passed away at the age of 77. Her husband Andrew lived to be

81.

Page 34: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

They were the first to be buried at The White Tower, the family’s ancestral burial grounds. The

entire Kim family was in attendance for a one year honorary memorial service.

Page 35: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Beatrice the family minded sim that she was chose to be a stay at home mother. Personal journals indicate that she regretted that her own parents had not spent much time

with her as a child and she wanted to ensure her own children did not have this experience.

Page 36: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

She and her husband Alon also both felt that it was important for the family to form connections with the 3 major provinces

of Valenwood. Beatrice like her grandfather Ryker, seemed to have great ties

to her family’s ancient homeland and was known to make long treks across the Great Sea even when pregnant.

Page 37: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Eventually, the family was able to establish contacts in all 3 major provinces although the

Vampire Covens in all three refused admittance to both Beatrice and Alon due to their Lorian

ancestry.

Page 38: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

The first child Beatrice and Alon produced was born shortly after the couple had made contact with the people of

Rainbow Valley. The next heiress to the family line was a little girl named

Chenoa.

Page 39: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1
Page 40: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Chenoa and Csaba were inseparable growing up. He became her chief advisor during her time as heiress.

Page 41: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

However, Chenoa was soon the eldest of three daughters. Her younger sister Cynthia was born first, followed closely by the youngest Catalina.

Page 42: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

She and Cynthia bonded over the chess table and remained close friends throughout their

lives.

Page 43: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Cynthia seemed to connect with everyone, but seems to have had a particularly close relationship with her great-grandfather

Ryker.

Page 44: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Chenoa oddly enough connected first and foremost with her great-grandmother Marie

which undoubtedly had a huge influence on the future heiress’ behavior throughout her life.

Page 45: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

The youngest of Beatrice and Alon’s children, Catalina was by far the most stubborn of the three children. No amount of coaxing ever seemed enough to get through

to her once her mind was made up.

Page 46: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Catalina seemed to detest schooling with a passion. The young girl had absolutely no desire to attend any institution of higher learning. Just getting her through

the primary requirements was difficult enough.

Page 47: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Beatrice and Alon had reconnected the family to Valenwood, Chenoa and Csaba had just left for Lorian State University, and while they’d lost Andrew and Suzie the family legacy

was going strong. It is doubtful anything could have prepared the family for what happened that fateful morning at the close of winter.

Page 48: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

Marie Kim allowed herself to be burned alive. No gravestone was placed in the family graveyard, for Chenoa

considered Marie’s last act one of complete betrayal. She is said to have smashed the urn which held her great-grandmother’s

ashes upon reading the vampire’s final letter. The first volume of the Kim legacy has unfortunately come to a

tragic close…

Page 49: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

My Dearest Chenoa, By the time you receive this letter, I will be gone. I don’t want you to blame your great-grandfather for any of this. Believe

me, these years with Ryker have been some of the happiest in all my life. But, I cannot believe in the world he does. Our people will never see the light of day again. Not without

paying the price. We are forever cursed, and rightfully so.

What the vampires did to people like my parents, to other mortals all those years ago was unforgivable. The Nectu had every right to take away vampires ability to walk among the

land of the living like you.

Page 50: The Kim Family Legacy Volume 1

I consider what happened to me over the last years a blessing, a mercy for my willingness to accept the punishment of our

people. I met Ryker, had a beautiful son. I met you. But, I’ve finally come to realize I don’t need to be afraid of dying

anymore. It’s high time I stopped hiding in the shadows and accepted the price I was meant to pay.

Hopefully in time your great-grandfather will realize this truth as well.

All vampires, even the half-breeds who have never harmed a mortal, ought to be willing to pay the price for our crime.

With all my love, Marie
