Established in 1994, The Kitchen Studio is widely regarded as one of the leading designers and manufacturers of customised kitchen and bedroom furniture in South Africa. Our PeopleWe employ over 350 full time staff, amongst whom are some of the finest craftsmen and the most experiencedkitchen designers in the industry. More than half of our design consultants have been with us for between10 and 19 years. This translates into our clients benefiting from their immense knowledge and vast experiencewhen it comes to design ideas and material selection.

Every finish available for kitchen and bedroom furniture is manufactured in-house at our own factories.These includesolid exotic hardwoods, natural veneers and imported engineered veneers,PVC wrap and bevelled veneers,duco andhand painted,acrylic and the latest finishes in HPL ( High Pressure Laminates ) door frontals.This together with ourin-house granite, marble and quartz manufacturing facility gives us the advantage of offering our clients the widestrange of choices and unequalled value.

Our Durban showroom is the largest kitchen showroom in the country with over 30 full sized kitchens.

Infrastructure

Our factories now occupy an area of over twenty thousand square metres with the latestmanufacturing technology and adequate warehousing for our bulk purchasing and stockholding.

Our fully equipped manufacturing plant with CNC cutting, boring, routering and robotic assembly facilities makes for accurate and cost effective production. Spray painting of varnishes, stains and duco is done on a computerised spray painting line with automated drying facilities. This ensures consistency in stain and paint colours and produces a more durable and superior end product.

Our PVC wrap doors and bevelled doors are manufactured using the unique Orma Oil Membrane Press, as opposed to theair-membrane system commonly employed.This enables us to offer a 5 year guarantee against delamination on all ourWrap and Bevelled Veneer doors. We now use the German IMA edge banding technology with polyurethane adhesives.IMA edge banding combined with Jowat PUR adhesives produces an almost invisible glue line on white shelving.Edging that is 1mm thicker on MDF is impossible to peel off no matter how hard one tries.Ask your design consultant for a sample.

Although we are fully committed to supporting locally manufactured products there are certain components, fittings andaccessories that are not produced in South Africa.In these instances we import them directly. Amongst the various brandsthat we import directly are: Hettich Innotech and undermount soft close drawer runners and Sensys soft close hingesfrom Germany, Falmec and Elica cooker hoods from Italy and Germany and Senosan Acrylic board from Niemann in Germany.We also have a range of pantries, spice racks and bins from Sige in Italy.Hardwoods are sourced from a variety of Americanand European mills depending on the species required.We ensure that all hardwoods used are sourced from sustainableforests.Our company does not use Saligna as it is regarded as a water sapping alien species.

All our kitchen and bedroom furniture is manufactured in South Africa using the finest imported and local materials available.

Door and drawer frontals are manufactured in real wood and wood veneers as well as in synthetic materials such as PVC wrap, melamine, acrylic, duco, laminates and glass.

Internal shelving and carcassesInterior carcass and shelving is constructed primarily from white melamine on chipboard. A choice of wood grain melamine finishes are available for carcass construction on selected ranges, e.g. Oak, Beech, Maple, Walnut, Mahogany and Rosewood.

Although still new to the South African Market and not used as widely as in European and American markets, we are beginning to notice an increasing demand by local consumers for shelving and carcasses to be made from melamine on laminated plywood instead of melamine on chipboard. Although a little more expensive (around 10% of the cabinet price) it eliminates the use of chipboard products almost entirely. Laminated plywood is more water resistant; shelving is less likely to sag and generally increases the life span of cabinetry. We now have some ranges of our kitchens that are completely free of chipboard.

Hinges and Drawer runnersBoth doors and drawers are now available in a variety of soft close (silent) options.

Due to an increase in demand for soft close hinges, we have now made soft close hinges a standard feature of all Kitchen Studio cabinetry. We have chosen the route of the built in soft close 'piston' system which is part of the hinge rather than the soft close add on "attachment" that is sometimes used in order to reduce costs.

Drawers are built with the Hettich Metabox (metal side) system as standard but can be upgraded to the Hettich Innotech soft close drawer system. Under mounted soft close options are also available for use with melamine or veneered drawer boxes. Solid hardwood dovetailed drawers on soft close drawer systems are the ultimate in craftsmanship, quality and aesthetics for the more discerning homeowner.

Our worktops division, The Granite Studio, supplies all granite, marble and quartz work tops. It is a one stop solution that simplifies the installation process.

Guarantee

The Kitchen Studio is a member of the Kitchen Specialists’ Association (KSA). The guarantee on our manufac-tured products range from 1 to 5 years depending on the finish selected.

Solid hardwood doors are guaranteed for a period of 5 years against cracking and splitting. Supawood wrap doors, bevelled veneer doors and engineered veneer doors are guaranteed for a period of 5 years against delamination.

Should your kitchen be older than 5 years, we will repair or replace these doors at no charge provided that the original payment terms where adhered to. All you have to do is drop off the defective doors to a branch near you and collect them once they are ready.
