• Maori Name :Tokoeka• Females are larger than males• Birds weighing between 1.5 kgs• Size is around 50 cm• Eggs are laid from July through February• Kiwi eat a wide variety of insect life• Threats Habitat loss , introduced predators• Conservation status : in serious decline

THE DIFFERENT KINDS OF KIWIS

THE HISTORY

• In recent years the Māori always protect the kiwi.

• In the past Māori wore cloaks made out of kiwi fur.

• They also ate the kiwi. That is bad isn't it?• They are now protected animals.
