Don’t be afraid to ask questions, volunteer to read, answer questions your teacher has, and be a leader in your classroom. These are ways to make your 6th, 7th, or 8th grade year even better. Other ideas include joining a club or activity, playing a sport, or coming to Bradley Central home games! There is something for everyone and the more you get involved, the better experience you’ll have this year. We can’t wait for an awesome year! The Kn ghtly News August 2017 FREE The Most Frequently Asked Question on the 1st Day Back to School How was your summer Johnny? The majority of students will be asked this once, twice, or maybe three of four times as the school year begins and hopefully students will have lots to tell. Maybe you planted a garden, maybe you went on a vacation, maybe you spent all summer playing sports or hanging with your friends, maybe you sat outside enjoying the beautiful weather and played with your pet. Whatever you did, Bradley Central would love to hear YOUR story! If you would like to write a paragraph or two about your summer vacation to be printed in the school newspaper the students and staff would love to hear about it. If a couple paragraphs is too much to ask in the first couple weeks of school, :) maybe you can jot down a couple sentences of your best summer memories and turn it into Mrs. Allen in Room 203. We will print these in the first issue of The Knightly News. A Speech Team informational meeting will be held Tuesday, August 29th at 3:00 in Mrs. Furgal's room. Speech team is a performance group coached by Mrs. Bisping and Mrs. Furgal. We are looking for interested Knights to check out this fun activity. Speech….Talk it up

2-Year-Old Boy Left in Car, Dies

By Evan Jensen

Twenty-one year old Fiorella Silva-Tello had gone to work at a daycare in the Oak Park Shopping Center in Brandon, Florida. She didn’t realize at the time that she made a big mistake. She had forgotten about her half-brother, Jacob Manchego, in her car but didn’t realize it for at least five hours. The daycare Fiorella Silva-Tello works at had a sign on their window saying, “Look before you lock. Never leave a child alone in a car.” Her mistake cost her little brother his life.

Investigators have confirmed that Fiorella had gone to work to take care of kids, left her half-brother in her car without air conditioning for five and a half hours, and discovered the unconscious boy when she was on her break. This is a very sad occurrence and hopefully it never happens again. Please be aware that your little siblings are with you before you leave your car.

Girl Attacked In Alabama By Kangaroo

By Hailley Helsel

It happened Saturday, when her family visited a Safari Park in Alabama.

Jennifer White was recording with her cellphone as the kangaroo reached its head and arms through the fence. It grabbed her nine-year old daughter by her hair and appeared to bite her head.

Nine-year old Cheyenne now has 14 stitches.

“I’m just glad it got me and not my baby sister,” Cheyenne said.

There are no signs on the cage that warn that the kangaroo bites, but Jennifer says the park needs a better barrier to prevent contact with

animals.

State NewsCouldn’t have a Worse Day

By: Sydney Brooks

It all began at 5:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017 when a tragic house fire started. The house, belonging to the Campbells, was located in Glen Carbon, Illinois. An adult died in the fire, but six children, siblings, escaped just in time. The oldest child’s age is only 14 years old. Glen Carbon is about 30 miles east of St. Louis. Sheriff John Lakin said the person killed has not been identified, but Campbell's husband and the father of the children, Justin Campbell, has not been accounted for. Some of the children hurried to a nearby Walmart. An arriving worker worriedly called 911. Other Campbell children rushed to neighbor’s house. Cristy Campbell was not in the home when firefighters arrived nor was the couple's seventh child, a 3-month-old boy. At 5:31 a.m. a motorist was driving and saw a car heading down a hill towards the water, near Silver Lake in Highland, Illinois. He quickly called 911. Highland paramedic Todd Zobrist arrived at the sence to find the car submerged into the water. He bravely swam 50 to 70 feet to the SUV. He found a baby inside and pulled it by the arm out of the vehicle. Zobrist gently put the baby on the hood of the car and gave it CPR. After finding the baby, authorities began searching the water. A body was pulled from the lake around 11:15 a.m. While the body has not been identified, Lakin said police are no longer searching for Cristy Campbell. Some people say that their days are bad days.

High-school Freak-outBy: Mia Greenley

Going into high-school can be pretty exciting but also terrifying. I think the key to success for this time is…… Simplicity.

When the staff members of BBCHs were explaining all of the work we needed to complete in four years, it definitely did not seem like enough time. After they all finished talking I was asking my sister which classes I could take and how many classes I could fit into my freshman year. I was turning a good experience into a full-time job. Some teachers contradict themselves and say how everything is so serious and how difficult high-school is but then try to say we have nothing to worry about and it will be fun.

They way my sister explained it though, made a lot more sense. She told me “less is more.” In high-school less is more because you can strive in all of your classes instead of failing in a bunch of courses. You should take the classes you need and a couple of extracurricular activities then decide how you feel. There is time for everything and maybe some to spare.

In the new movie Dragon Cry Team Natsu consisting of Natsu, Lucy, Grey, Erza, Happy, Wendy, and Carla, travel to the kingdom of Zash to retrieve the stolen artifact, the Dragon Cry.
