KOC recently signed a contract for the im- plementation of a project for the first phase of the Lower Fars Heavy Oil Development Program in Ratqa Field in North Kuwait. Plans for the field include production fig- ures of 60,000 bpd by 2018. The signing ceremony took place at the KOC Main Office in Ahmadi in the pres- ence of CEO Hashem Hashem, a number of DCEOs and senior Company officials. Hashem signed the contract on behalf of KOC while Petrofac’s CEO of Engineer- ing, Construction, Operations and Main- tenance, Marwan Chedid, signed on his company’s behalf. The Project Director from Consolidated Contractors Group (CCC), Nabil Hariz, also signed the contract. In a speech he delivered on the occasion, KOC CEO Hashem Hashem maintained that the implementation of this project stands as a landmark in the history of KOC, as it will enable the Company to produce heavy oil in commercial quantities for the first time. He went on to say that the devel- opment of heavy oil by KOC is a strategic objective of the Company and that this new venture will increase the Company’s techni- cal and operational capabilities. Hashem added that this project serves as the first phase of KOC’s heavy oil develop- ment plan and that it will be followed by other stages in order to raise production as part of the 2030 Strategy. The CEO then expressed his gratitude to everyone that has been involved with this project, adding that this undertaking would not have been possible without their hard work and dedi- cation. Meanwhile, Chedid thanked KOC for its efforts and maintained that Petrofac would uphold its commitment to KOC stan- dards and delivery dates. KPC Board Members Visit KOCVisiting delegation provided with tour of KOC facilities

KOC CEO Hashem Hashem and other senior officials recently welcomed a delegation from KPC led by CEO Nizar Al-Adsani. The delegation con-sisted of members from the KPC Board of Directors.

During the visit, the KOC CEO accompanied the delegation on a tour of the Company’s facilities and production sites. The tour, which was organized by DCEO (NK) Emad Sultan, began at the Main Office in Ahmadi before continuing on to the Company’s various facilities.

The visiting delegation was briefed on the work that is currently being done

at the Company. In addition, the KPC Board of Directors was also presented with information that detailed some of KOC’s projects and future plans. The tour was concluded with a luncheon that was held in honor of the visiting delegation.

Members of the KPC Board of Directors included Abdullah Al-Humaidi, Abdullatif Al-Tourah, Abdulhadi Al-Awwad, Abdul Wahab Al-Wazzan, Khaled Bouhamra and Hamza Bakhsh.

Corporate Services Holds 3rd Quarterly Performance ReviewDirectorate achieved most of its targets

The Corporate Services Directorate recently held its third Quarterly Performance Review meeting for the 2014/15 fiscal year. During the meeting, Balanced Scorecards were reviewed that contained 28 KPMs. It was discovered that 17 KPMs had been achieved, seven were above target, and four fell below target.

The meeting was chaired by DCEO Corporate Services Ismail Abdullah. During the event, Financial Group Representative Ali Al-Qallaf reviewed the financial performance of the Company as a whole, with particular attention paid to the Corporate Services Directorate.

DCEO Abdullah concluded the event with a closing speech in which he encouraged employees to obtain the remaining targets in the final quarter of the current fiscal year.

Clean Up Arabia CampaignKOC CEO, senior officials participate in environmental initiative

As part of its efforts to raise awareness and pro-tect the environment, KOC recently conducted its Clean Up Arabia Campaign. The event, which serves as one of the Company’s most important environmental initiatives, featured participation from KOC CEO Hashem Hashem, a number of DCEOs, a large number of KOC employees and individuals from state institutions, as well as other individuals concerned with the protection of Ku-wait’s environment. In a speech he delivered during the event, Hash-em upheld KOC’s interest in protecting Kuwait’s natural environments, adding that KOC employ-ees should do everything in their power to con-tribute to this cause by undertaking initiatives that support this effort. The CEO also commended the Company’s past environmental efforts, which have been acknowledged on the local, regional and international levels through the obtainment of various environmental awards and recogni-tions. Meanwhile, Marine Operations Manager Fad-hel Boresle maintained that the Clean Up Arabia Campaign was one of the most important envi-ronmental campaigns in Kuwait that embodied the spirit of volunteerism and participation by those wishing to create a better, cleaner Kuwait.

Simulation Modelling for Chemical EOR Processes WorkshopOrganized by the Reservoir Management Team

The Reservoir Management Team recently organized the “Simulation Modelling for Chemical EOR Processes” workshop as part of a Technology Transfer Agreement with Degoyler & MacNaughton (D&M). The workshop, which was attended by 21 participants from several KOC Teams, was held in order to develop KOC staff competencies in important technical areas such as Enhanced Oil Recovery.

The workshop covered material in the following areas:

• Principles of EOR processes: gas-based and water-based processes.

• Factors that affect EOR processes.

• Laboratory procedures that select suitable surfactant and polymers for SP processes.

• Capabilities of the UTCHEM simulator for simulating the chemical SP EOR process.

• Use of UTCHEM history-matching laboratory core flood results.

Team Leader Career Development & Planning Bader Al-Hadiah delivered closing remarks during the event, which is recognized as an activity that falls under the KOC Learning Strategy by the T&CD Group.

Competency Development Unit (CDU) Forum 2015Achieving targets of the HR 2030 Strategy Initiative

The CDU Forum 2015 was recently held under the patronage of Deputy CEO Administration and Finance Saad Al-Azmi. The forum was inaugurated by Training and Career Devel-opment Manager Qusai Al-Amer, who maintained that the purpose of the forum was to discuss concerns and provide so-lutions while striving toward a common approach to Learning & Development processes throughout K-Companies as part of the HR 2030 Strategy Initiative.

The forum consisted of presentations by Luis Vernis, Consul-tant (PIC), OCD Team Lead on the 2030 Strategy Initiative for HR, who discussed Organizational Capability Development. Meanwhile, Chris Shennan, and Vivek Sharma from the Hay Group discussed international L&D practices and how their application can be utilized by K-Companies.

The forum also featured three workshop sessions where CDU members provided suggestions and recommendations.

Corporate Projects III Receives Delivery of New BuildingNew building includes a laboratory and core storage facility

A ceremony was recently held to commemorate the delivery of Warehouse and Laboratory Building No. 3 to the Corporate Projects III Team. Acting Manager from the Ahmadi Projects Group, Abdul Aziz Al-Otaibi, presided over the event.

Warehouse and Laboratory Building No. 3 features new facilities that includes a storage facility capable of holding 3,400 pallet boxes, laboratories, a freezer room, ground and mezzanine offices, a conference room and other facilities. The building itself covers an area of 8,000 square meters.

The new building is protected by a fire suppression system, CCTV monitoring, an alarm system, fire rated doors for the laboratories, and a fire proofed steel structure.

Marine Operations Group Hosts Shipbuilding CourseAUK and Lloyds Register take part in presentation

The Marine Operations Group recently hosted a shipbuilding course that coincided with the delivery of a new fleet of vessels. The course, which was an initiative from Fadhel Boresle, Manager Marine Operations Group, was held in coordination with the Australian College of Kuwait and Lloyd’s Register of Shipping.

The course outlined the entire shipbuilding process and had the stated purpose of providing useful information to Marine Engineers. This included an explanation of the work involved from the technical specification stage to the delivery stage of the shipbuilding process. The course was held in the Office Complex and was well attended and extremely beneficial for the Marine Operations Group.

Reduction of Accumulated Sand on Motorways WorkshopOrganized by the Corporate Services Directorate

Blood Donation Campaign in Ahmadi HospitalOrganized by Ahmadi Services Group

As part of KOC’s efforts to uphold its social responsibilities to society, the Ahmadi Services Group, in coordination with Ahmadi Hospital, recently organized a blood donation campaign that featured excellent participation from KOC employees. Ahmadi Services Group Manager Nouri Al-Khatrash was present during the Blood Donation Campaign, which also featured the participation of the Ministry of Health and Al-Seef Hospital. A number of specialized medical companies also participated during the event. Activities that were held during the Blood Donation Campaign included a lecture delivered by Dr. Intisar Al-Hindal, Head of the Health Promotion Department at Ahmadi Hospital, who discussed the importance and benefits of donating blood.It is worth mentioning that KOC was the top blood donor in Kuwait for 2014/15.

The Corporate Services Directorate recently held a workshop that focused on the best practices that are currently being utilized by the Company to reduce the accumulation of sand on roads. The event, which was held at the Hilton in Mangaf, took place in the presence of representatives from government agencies, including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Public Works, Municipality of Kuwait and KGOC.

During the event, TL HSE Sami Al-Kandari delivered a presentation that discussed the hazards, accidents and losses resulting from the accumulation

of sand on roads. He also presented information related to causes and effective solutions for the accumulated sand.

Participants at the workshop presented important recommendations that will help reduce the risk of accumulated sand on motorways, which should lead to a reduction in the number of traffic accidents.

Ahmadi Projects Group Acting Manager Ahmed Al-Fenaini honored the participants at the conclusion of the workshop.

The Water Handling Team (S&EK) recently conducted an awareness ses-sion at Al-Rawdha High School for Girls that focused on crude oil and gas production in Kuwait. The session was held in order to provide information about the oil and gas industry to Kuwait’s future generation of oil engineers. Team Leader Water Handling (S&EK) Issa Al-Jadi conducted the aware-ness session, which was attended by students, school faculty members and specially invited guests from other schools. The session included presentations that helped raise awareness of the his-tory of crude exploration in Kuwait. It also provided information about KOC’s core business activities and the current technologies that are utilized by the Company for production. During the event, Senior Engineer Athary Al-Murished discussed produc-tion methods and the utilization of 3D models by the Company.Al-Jadi concluded the event by expressing his gratitude and appreciation to the school’s faculty members for their active participation in the awareness session. A number of giveaways were also handed out to students at the close of the event.

Farewell Ceremony for Standards TL Hamza AhmadHamza Ahmad joined KOC in 1979

The Standards Team recently bid farewell to their Team Lead-er, Hamza Ahmad, who is retiring from his job at KOC after faithfully serving the Company since 1979.

TL HSE Systems Faisal Mirza attended the farewell ceremony and praised Hamza for his effective and fruitful role of fa-cilitating the work of the HSE Systems Team. He wished the Standards Team Leader success and prosperity as he begins the next chapter of his life.

The outgoing Team Leader thanked his staff for the kind initia-tive they took to bid him farewell, and he commended them for the hard work they have put forth in their service to the Company.

Ahmad maintained that he was leaving the Company with a heavy heart and told those in attendance that he had spent the best years of his life at KOC.

KOC Installs Lights and Decorations at Souq Al-MubarakiyaKOC CEO and senior officials attend inauguration

As part of its efforts to contribute to Kuwait’s National and Liberation Day celebrations, KOC recently took the initiative of helping to decorate Souq Al-Mubarakiya in Kuwait City. The installation of lights, flags and scale models was inaugurated by KOC CEO Hashem Hashem and a number of the Company’s senior officials. Al-Sarrafeen Street, Al-Gharaballi Street, the restaurants area and other prominent areas and streets within Al-Mubarakiyawere also decorated by the Company.Souq Al-Mubarakiya was chosen by the Company for the initiative because of the important role it has played in Kuwait’s history as the country’s most important commercial and heritage site. This initiative from KOC is not the first time the Company has engaged in this type of activity. Over the years, KOC has played a major role in making significant contributions to Kuwait’s celebration of the National and Liberation Day holiday.The Company’s contribution to one of Kuwait’s most well-known landmarks in Kuwait City is an extension of its usual decoration of Ahmadi’s streets. During the National and Liberation Day holiday, visitors throughout Kuwait bring their families to Ahmadi to enjoy the dazzling display of lights that Ahmadi has become famous for.
