U.S. Breast Cancer Facts• A woman has a 1 in 8 risk of developing breast cancer in her lifetime.• Except for skin cancers, breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women.• An estimated 182,460 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed among women during 2008.• An estimated 40,480 women and 450 men were expected to die from breast cancer in during 2008.• One woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes, and one woman will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes• The majority of women with breast cancer have no known significant family history or other known risk factors.• Approximately 95% of all breast cancers occur in women40 years of age and older.• Besides skin cancer, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among U.S. women. More than 1 in 4 cancers are breast cancer.
