Milk he drank from HERAbut ZEUS was HERCULES’S father.
As a baby he was very strong
and saved the life of his brother.
Two serpents he choked with his bare hand
but later on in life
he was not so good to his family
and was banished from his homeland.
Hercules decided to ask
the DELPHIC ORACLEfor advice on what to do. He was to become a servant to EURYSTHEUS
and start his life anew.
HERA had made it very large.
Its skin was so thick that no arrow could pierce through.
The lion lived in a cave and each day would go down to the valley
to find animals and people to eat.
Hercules hit it very hard with his club. The dizzy lion hid in its hideaway.
Then Hercules piled rocks in the entrance and slid in the other way.
Hercules beat the lion and returned to Eurystheus wearing its skin as a cloak.
The king was so frightened, he hid in a bronze pot.
Eurystheus gave him twelve labors to complete.
The first was to kill the NEMEAN LION.
