the legacy ofIn 1962 Eon Productions, the company of Canadian Harry Saltzman and American Albert R. “Cubby” Broc-coli released the first cinema adaptation of an Ian Fleming novel, Dr. No, featuring Sean Connery as 007. Connery starred in a further four films before leaving the role after You Only Live Twice, which was taken up by George Lazenby for On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Lazenby left the role after just one appearance and Connery was tempted back for his last Eon-produced film Diamonds Are Forever.
In 1973, Roger Moore was appointed to the role of 007 for Live and Let Die and played Bond a further six times over twelve years before being replaced by Timothy Dalton for two films. After a six year hiatus, during which a legal wrangle threatened Eon’s productions of the Bond films, Irish actor Pierce Brosnan was cast as Bond in GoldenEye, released in 1995; he remai=ned in the role for a total of four films, before leaving in 2002. In 2006, Daniel Craig was given the role of Bond for Casino Royale, which rebooted the franchise. The twenty-third Eon produced film, Skyfall, was released on 26 October 2012.The series has grossed just over $4 billion to date, making it the third-highest-grossing film series, and the single most successful adjusted for inflation.

Total Box Office = Area of Circle
The James Bond franchise approached its 50th anniversary in 2012. The British super agent has solidified himself as part of popular culture not only in Britain, but internationally as well. Let’s take a look at Bond’s statistics.
The James Bond franchise has been so lucrative due to there being over twenty movies within the franchise. The budget of each movie has unsurprisingly be-come larger as the years go on, however, each Bond movie has had no problem with making a profit at the box office. Overall, the Bond films have totaled rough-ly 3.9 billion dollars at the box office and is the third highest grossing franchise of all time, just right behind Harry Potter and Star Wars. (Forbes) 007 is one of the most popular franchises of all time and each movie will unarguably become bigger and better.
Similarly, one of the other defining factors of the Bond franchise is the secret agent’s “badass” nature. You would only assume that movies about a secret agent would involve a lot of deaths. The death count in the Bond franchise is often disputed, but die hard fans of the series have kept tally of the death counts in each movie since 1963’s “Dr. No.” As of 2011, there have been a total 1,299 deaths with 352 of them being executed by Bond himself. An average of 59 deaths occur during each movie with 16 of those being Bond. (Guardian) The death count has greatly varied from movie to movie, but it doesn’t seem to have had an affect on viewer’s of the franchise.
