Dear Church Family, Sadly, Thanksgiving has gotten swallowed up as our culture hurries toward Christmas. Still, let’s take the gratitude test. When we consider all the bless-ings we enjoy, what is our first thought? Is it a) Look at all of what I’ve accomplished and accumulated through my own resourcefulness, or b) Wow! Look at all of these good things—all gifts from the Lord! Thank you, God! John Ortberg, in Soul Keeping, writes, “Gratitude always comes from a posture of humility. But the default mode of the sinful human race is entitle-ment, the belief that this gift or that experience that God placed in my path is rightfully mine. I am owed. But, the more you think you’re entitled to, the less you will be grateful for. The bigger the sense of enti-tlement, the smaller the sense of gratitude. We wonder why in our world we keep getting more and more and keep being less and less grateful.” “Bill Hybels once saw in the Newport Beach Harbor in California a beautiful, gleaming, million-dollar yacht. The name printed in big, bold letters on the stern was DESERVED. Whatever I have I deserve. Entitlement grows deep within us. This is why, for the soul, entitlement is not just a psychological problem. It’s not just an impoverishment of emotion-al experience. It is sin.” Paul writes in Romans 1:21, NIV For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. The soul thrives on gratitude. So, my friends, this season of Thanksgiving, let us in humility and grati-tude, Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts (Colossians 3:16, NLT).

Baptists On Mission Rebuild Day Trips each Tuesday
We are now going each week to help in Goldsboro. The van leaves the church campus at 7:00 am, stops along the way at Bojangles, and returns that evening, time depending on a supper stop. For more information contact John Bentley at 919-280-6159 or Bill King 919-358-5211. This is a wonderful opportunity to join in Kingdom work as we seek to be witnesses for Christ in our Judea (Acts 1:8).
Living Nativity
Just a reminder....our Ephesus Living Nativi-ty is scheduled for December 15,16,17. Team leaders are already under way recruit-ing characters to participate in the event. Each of the seven scenes has a recruit-er.....please consider committing to partici-pating if you are asked by a scene recruiter. We have a rehearsal schedule on December 7, at which time a video will be made for ad-vertising purposes. We have live animals committed for the event and are negotiating to have live animals at the rehearsal to be included in the video. This event is an out-reach and we will be inviting anyone who would like, to participate. In addition to your participation, we solicit your financial sup-port. If you feel led to contribute, please do so in a church envelope and mark "living nativity" on the front.
—The LN committee thanks you...!!
The time has come to start pre-paring for Operation Christmas Child! Please join in our efforts this year to reach out and touch the lives of so many children who have yet to learn about Christ. By filling up shoe boxes we can transform children and their communities’ lives. The gift filled boxes give them hope, show them love, and teach them about the light of the world, Jesus! There will be some com-plimentary boxes on the breeze-way for you to take and fill up. Ephesus Baptist Church will be collecting boxes on Sunday, November 19th. Our church goal is 175 boxes. Please con-tact Christi Welch for more infor-mation.
. Annual Church-wide Fish Fry and Fish Stories

Ephesus fishermen.

Mission Disaster Relief.
City Connections: The line is in place to our building and we’re waiting for permits and arrangements for the final connection. Thank you for giving regularly and generously to the Build-ing Fund in order for us to pay off the loan for the project on time.
“Mom, I have something I need to tell you …” They didn’t talk. Not for ten years. Not about faith any-way. Instead, a mother and daugh-ter tiptoed with pain around the deepest gulf in their lives-the daughter’s choice to leave the church, convert to Islam and be-come a practicing Muslim. Undi-vided is a real-time story of healing and understanding with alternating narratives from each as they strug-gle to learn how to love each other in a whole new way.
If you would like to place a poinsettia in honor or memory of a loved one or
loved ones, forms will be available to place your order the next couple of Sundays. They will be $14.00 per flower this year. Orders are due by
November 19. The flowers will be in a 7” pot wrapped with green foil.
Poinsettias will be on display beginning
December 3.
Sunday, Nov. 5 @ 11:30 am, the Stewardship Team presents the 2018 budget. After they present the budg-et, there will be a time of discussion. At the Business Conference on Sun-day, November 12 at 11:30 am, we will vote to adopt the new budget which will take effect on January 1.
