XAVIER HIGH SCHOOL : A PRIVILEGE Xavier School is considered a top contender amongst the best schools in Manila. It boasts an astounding campus, with nearly 4000 students and 500 teachers on it’s grounds.

Xavier School is not only known for it’s academics, but it’s sports teams as well. Student athletes from Xavier receive tons of recognition every year

With the new IB program being implemented in school, this gives students the opportunity to expose themselves to technology such as laptops and Ipads for a complete learning experience.

WELCOME TO HIGH SCHOOL, FRESHMEN

WHAT TO EXPECT:

During our 1st year in high school we were given several possible activities do. We had our Bilibid Service interaction, our St. Paul - Xavier interaction, Sabayang Pagbigkas, Chorale Piece, The Fair, Buwan ng wika, Pep Rally, Intrams and much more. Each activity helped us get closer to our class, batch and other people outside school. They also helped us embrace our culture as Filipinos. Unfortunately we had bad experiences too, getting bullied, failing tests, getting detention, fights, etc. We can use this this time to learn to become better men for others and adjust to our new High School life.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:WHAT YOU CAN ACHEIVE IN HIGH SCHOOL

There are several awards one can receive during high school in Xavier: Xavier award, Magis award, being a member of the student counsel. But there are other little personal achievements that one can get like getting 1st or 2nd honor, Not getting a green slip for the whole year or others. People receive these awards not because of popularity (well some do) but because of the hard work they were put through and they didn't give up, they became awardees because they show the 6Cs or study really hard or even behave in class.

PROBLEMS

High School wasn't/won't/will not be a walk in the park for everyone, you'll have to deal with problems along the way. Problems can happen in high school any way: Bullying, Green Slips, Failing, etc. One way to stop problems is prevention or confrontation (of the problem). If you get a lot of green slips then STOP misbehaving, DON'T forget your materials and just be GOOD and do the RIGHT things. Failing is a big problem, to stop it is easy. Just STUDY HARD and WELL instead of wasting your time playing video games or going on Facebook (There's always time for that later). If your one of those people who are slow learners then just ask for help, it's not like you have no friends in life and your parents and the teacher will always be there to help out. It's their job after all. Bullying has so far can't be prevented but you can solve it in many ways: Don't give in to being called a tattle tale or coward, try and make friends with the bully or just leave him alone/stay away from him. Every problem has a solution and if you know what it is then JUST DO IT

Getting AroundKnowing the teachers & administrators: Do you ever hear from older students about certain teachers or judge a teacher too quickly on the first day you meet, well that's a BIG mistake. Teachers are there to make life in school easier for you (I'm not kidding). True, there are teachers that you don't like and teacher that you will but you can't simply judge them. I have teachers that my friends pick on because they are kind and lenient but the shut up in front of others who gave strict impressions. Some strict teachers are kind when you give them a laugh and when you do well in class: from personal experience and experiences I have seen or heard. Some teachers teach really badly but maybe that's because either your not listening in class or you need a better explanation from them. This goes for certain staff as well. All i'm saying is don't judge teachers and they'll be your best friends for the whole school year.

Dealing with Senior Students: Senior students have been there and done that, when you get the chance to make friends with them then i suggest you do. There are many opportunities to make friends with older students: club mates, friends of friends or simply asking your older brother (if you have one). They can give you advice on what to do in school but only follow GOOD advice.

Projects/Tests: These will be the obstacles you have to face to go through high school but never worry about them. Worry turns to nervousness which turns into fear which will make you fail. One thing you must never do is CRAM, cramming for certain projects will make you panic and you'll fail them, never cram study for a test since that will make you fail.
