Blood is the life line of we all living creatures, so itsimportance is obvious. Human body needs blood
transfusion when there is blood level is less than desired.Such loss of blood could be due to some accident or
serious aili ng condi tion. In either of these conditionsmedical care is essential to save the human life and then
blood transfusion becomes inevitable. But for thistransfusion blood from other human body is procuredby voluntary donation only. Forcefully blood
procurement is illegal, hence ruled out. Counseling is
the only mean by which a prospective donor is convincedfor a blood donation. As such donation is praised and
placed in a higher order of human conduct. And amongall the donations blood donation is known as the holiest.
It is obvious, because it saves someones life. To promoteblood donation in a civilized society is identified as one
of the prime activities. The donated blood is preservedat a safer place known as the blood bank. Mostly these
blood banks are promoted by Red Cross Societies. June14 th is identified as World Blood Donors Day. It is
promoted by International Federation Red Cross and RedCrescent Societies, International Federation of Blood
Donors Organization and International Society for BloodTransfusion. Popularity of observation of the day is
ga in ing gro un d th ese da ys. Th e day is of immens eimportance for them who actually work for human kinds.
It has been endo rsed by World Heal th Organ ization, which is represented by 192 member states, 181 National
Red Cross and Red Crescent Society and 50 NationalVoluntary Blood Donor Organization.
