JANUARY 13, 2013 BULLETIN RAY’S REMARKS: I hope everyone is having a great week and I hope we all are staying busy and focused on the things of God. This new year is off to a great start and God continues to bless our family at K. E. We had a really good number present at worship this past Sunday. We also had a lot of folks stay for the Agape gathering last Sunday afternoon. I hope we will all try to start this year off being more focused on the things of God and that we will all strive to be more involved in the many opportunities we have to do His Will. Let’s all make 2013 a great year in the service of God. That having been said, we still have several of our number strug- gling with sickness, health issues and trials of life at the beginning of this new year. Let’s pray for them and encourage them as best we can during this time. God willing, they will be able to sort these problems out and to again be back with us in the service of God. We have also had some who have lost loved ones and friends in recent weeks. Let’s continue to remember the Wake family in the loss of Leon’s brother-in- law. Let’s also keep brother Leon in our prayers as he has been struggling with a few health issues himself. We are blessed to be a family of God and to have each other in such times. So let’s always be there for one another when the trials of life call for such, but let’s also enjoy each other’s love and company when we are in the joyous times of life as well. I say all this because I’m afraid the only time some turn to God or the family of God is when things are bad. We need God and our brethren every moment of every day of life. Oh, how blessed we are to be the family of God! Another thing we have to be thankful for at the beginning of a new year is our elders at K.E. I’m not sure some of you realize the love and concern they have for us all and how interested they are in making sure that what we do is to the glory of God and proper in His sight. Please continue to remember Gary and Jerry in your regular prayers and why not let them know how much you appreciate all they do! Well, I look forward to our assembly this coming Lord’s day. Until then, put God first in all things and draw nearer to Him, and thus He will draw nearer to you. See you Sunday! *Ray Sullins*

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~THE KING AND THE WORD
In Deuteronomy 17:18-19 The King is commanded towrite for himself a copy of the law on a scroll. Thiswas not something as easy a pressing a "print" com-mand on a computer! He is commanded to read it allthe days of His life. This was not a command for thepriest, but for the head of state, the king!
The five stated benefits for this daily intake of God'swritten word were:
That he may learn to fear the LORD his God. That he might put into practice all the words
of this law and these statutes.
That his heart may not be lifted up above hiscountrymen.
That he may not turn aside from the com-mandment, to the right or the left.
That he and his sons may continue long in hiskingdom in the midst of Israel.
There is a great benefit to reading the Word, hear-ing the Word, writing the Word, meditating upon it,
discussing it and practicing it with fresh obedience.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
