99 GIGGLES“Navy blue and lace are hot right now. Socks are in, too—over boots, over anything. And naturally, we have it all. I always find the hottest and latest trends. It has to be hot off the press. No matter the genre, we find it and have it. But there’s one exception, it has to be fun. Our store is all about variety! Customers practically freak out over the variety and what we have in stock. I get this all the time, ‘Oh my gosh, wow! I cannot believe this. It’s way too cool in here.’ We’ve gotten the reputation of being the ‘fun store.’ You have to visit.”

REFASHION“Our store attracts a loyal following of fashion hounds and bargain hunters. Shopping at Refashion offers a unique and exciting opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind, high-quality, new and nearly new clothing, furniture and home accessories. This incredible selection is showcased in a beautiful 5,300-sq.-ft. showroom located in the heart of downtown Rochester, just three blocks from Mayo Clinic. The selection at Refashion changes hourly and is aimed at savvy consumers who appreciate quality, style and economy—leading Rochester since 1996! This year’s fashion trends include new takes on Biker Jackets, leather boots, zippers, buck-les and mini skirt silhouettes. Psychedelic Prints are in, and kaleidoscope prints breathe new life into this season’s separates. This year, embellish-ments are less extravagant and more on the sophisticated side.”

POPPI ITALIAN LEATHER“I travel to Milan, Italy twice yearly to a bag and shoe show. These goods are one-of-a-kind MADE IN ITALY using a unique tanning process that the Italians developed centuries ago. My bags are designed to follow the couture fashion industry. Styles from Italy are usually two to three years ahead of American trends. People unfamiliar with Italian leather are stunned by the beauty and authentic leather aroma that comes from the tanning process of natural veg-tan leather. The boutique is designed in a minimalistic style that showcases the leather bags…. step in and you feel you are shopping in Milan, Rome or Florence.”

KNIGHT’S CHAMBER“Very few products that we carry are carried in department stores. They’re original, they’re current, and they’re unique! And we are open seven days a week! Fall fashion from Knight’s Chamber includes an unforgettable lineup. Casual wear includes shirts with intricate fabrics and a ton of detail from Robert Graham, Bugatchi Uomo, and Jared Lang that pair perfectly with trendy stretch denim in new colors and cuts from 34 Heritage. Fall suit collections include a variety of pinstripe, check, and windowpane patterns that range from subtle to bold. Navys, greys and softer tones reign supreme this year. Service is our highest priority. If an item does not look good, we will not sell you on it. We are here to advise, educate and send our customers on their way looking good and feeling confident in what they have purchased.”

EYE–Q INTELLIGENT EYEWEAR “DANGEROUSLY FABULOUS FRAMES,” and “fierce eyewear for all!” are only a couple of ways to describe Eye–Q Intelligent Eyewear. A full-service luxury optical shopping boutique with a twist, Eye–Q Intelligent Eyewear offers a truly unique and energetic shopping experience.

“At Eye-Q, everything we sell is handmade. We only sell a frame one time, ensuring that our customers don’t ‘bump into’ their frame on someone else! Our frames are made out of the finest organic materials, such as cotton fiber, leather, buffalo horn, and exotic woods. We, of course, offer trend-forward eyewear, but with an edited perspective, allowing a person to wear his or her eyewear for many years after the flash-trend has faded. Our bright orange store bursts with passion and fun. We are an energetic, well-educated staff, offering the best made frames in the optical industry but without any pretense.”

2008Will it work? With the concrete barely dry on the new Peace Plaza, a noon-time fashion show entertained downtown workers and visitors. Models presented looks from the nearly two dozen locally owned and operated boutiques located in the downtown district.

2009Aiming for a Bryant Park Fashion Week feel, the inaugural evening show, held under a massive white tent, played to a standing-room-only crowd. Fashions were cozy and layered, dominated by neutrals and animal prints. Hemlines were high, leggings were everywhere, belts were big, and the experience was grand.

2010The roof was literally blown off the show in 2010. The tent came down, and a modern, open-air stage and runway allowed hundreds more people to attend the show. Entertainers from drummers to bagpipers surprised the crowd. Texture, color, and shine dominated the runway.

2011The show went up in smoke in 2011—dry ice fog, to be exact. Each of the segments opened with an iconic model emerging through a vapor cloud to set the mood for the fashions to follow. Soft winter white competed with basic black for the season’s neutral tone. Gold-and-silver live mannequins greeted Happy Hour guests.

2012Local divas Dianna Parks, Annie Mack, and La Sonya Fleming brought their singing talents to the Fashion Beat theme. The runway got longer to accommodate the growing audience, and the social segment began with a Mardi Gras feel. LBDs were accessorized with black carnival masks, and the final runs of the evening evolved into a model dance party.

2013The Art of Fashion debuted with both a diamond-shaped stage, and The Look Book, a guide to downtown merchants and fashions. Minnesota designers Marissa Bridges and George Moskal upped the wow factor with their original collections. Furs were strong, bags were bigger, and men’s fashion saw the return of the three-piece suit.
