When: Thursday, November 15 Where: On-Campus What: Wear your best UGLY SWEATER as we celebrate Thanksgiving at Kuyper!
Thank you, on behalf of Student Government, to all the students who took time to participate in the focus groups last week. Your insight and expressed concerns were very helpful as we look at our goals for the rest of the year. As a result of the focus groups, we have begun two of the requests so far and would like you to be aware of them and utilize them!
1. Student Government Facebook Group. Please join the group to receive updates like this in the future and stay informed about he happenings in SG. Also feel free to send any requests to SG through the Facebook group.
2. Prayer Request Forum. On the Kuyper Life Facebook page, we have started a prayer board for you to post requests on. We hope that students and faculty will both use this so that we can lift one another up in prayer. Please “like” it to receive notifications when a new prayer request is sent!
Our hope is that these forms of social media will be a useful tool for us to better engage in community and bring glory to God!

If I am honest, I have spent far too much time thinking
about what to say in this week’s blog. I wanted to say
something profound and life changing, something that
would have the stir of the week. I thought about writing
about Christian complacency and radical living, but as I
began to write it, it didn’t feel quite right. I also
considered finding some beautiful passage in scripture
that would move many minds, but this did not seem to
flow either. If I am honest, it was my pride speaking and I
am glad that God stopped it in its tracks. Instead I want
to talk about something Christians usually talk about in
passing, but rarely put into practice – being real with
other believers.
It’s a simple topic, really, but so incredibly hard to live
out. It requires us to be both humble and courageous as
we present ourselves openly to another human being. To
be authentic with others, we must be willing to let down
the walls and the pretense of protection. Though it seems
safe to know and be known on the surface level, it is far
more dangerous than openly admitting ones hopes,
strengths, struggles and past. When we lock these away
out of fear, pride or insecurities, our enemy gains an
incredible foothold in our lives. He not only discourages
us through the intense loneliness, but he stalls any
improvements in these areas of our lives.

J o b P o s t i n g s Keep praying for the victims of Hurricane Sandy as they now face the snow and cold, having been hit with a “nor’easter,” a snow storm across the eastern coast.
From The Wall Street Journal: “The nor'easter is adding to the New York City region's weather woes, dumping more than half a foot of snow in some areas and causing another round of power outages. The National Weather Service reports Thursday morning that the highest snowfall total from Wednesday's storm is in Armonk in Westchester County, where nearly 8 inches of snow has fallen. Parts of the city have received 4 to 7 inches of snow, with the highest totals in Queens and Staten Island. Snowfall totals in Suffolk, Nassau and Putnam counties range from 4 to nearly 7 inches. About a dozen schools in Westchester are opening two hours late because of the storm.” (Associated Press)
From ABC News: “The Federal Emergency Management Agency put a number to the storm's homeless in New York and New Jersey, saying 95,000 people were eligible for emergency housing assistance. In New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, more than 277,000 people have registered for general assistance, the agency said.” (Anthony Castellano)
