Devotion ThoughtThe Beatles wrote a song, “All You Need is Love.” Love is a wonderful and complex thing. There are so many ways we can show our love for friends and family. But what about love for the stranger? Or someone new to our community? It is a challenge, but a good one to have. We are reminded in the bible the importance of welcoming the stranger. Connecting the LORDS CommunityThank you to all our families who have engaged in our Parent Connection evenings on Monday and Wednesday evenings this week. This has been a great opportunity to connect with other families and the staff who educate and care for your children. Thank you to FOLS for a wonderful informal Mocktail Hour for our parents and staff to mingle before the Principal's Sessions and Classroom visits. A great start to 2020.

Welcome to the LORDS Instrumental Music ProgramThe Instrumental Music Program is a co-curricular program for all students, external to the music curriculum delivered in the classroom. We believe music enhances the process of learning. Therefore, all students are encouraged to explore and develop their musical ability through the various Instrumental Music opportunities.

LessonsAll students at LORDS are provided the opportunity to explore and develop their musical ability through Individual or Group Music Lessons with a qualified and experienced Music Tutor.

The Individual or Group Music Lessons meet students’ individual musical abilities and needs while motivating them to explore and recognise a variety of musical literature. Tuition fees apply.

To register your interest for instrumental lessons, go to https://lords.mymusicstaff.com/Login and select “Sign-Up”. Complete your details and the relevant tutor will contact you to discuss the program and payment details. The link is also available on the LORDS parent lounge under School Links>General Links>Instrumental Music.

Lessons take place during school hours with lesson times published through an online calendar available to students and parents. At the conclusion of each semester, a report will be provided on each student’s progress, including an assessment of performance musicality, technique, knowledge and understanding and behaviour.

We offer Individual or Group Music Lessons in the following:• Voice• Piano• Drumkit• Strings – Violin, Viola or Cello• Guitar• Bass Guitar• Ukulele• Woodwind• Brass

SwimmingIt has been a busy week in the Junior School sporting world with the Beenleigh Zone swimming carnival on Monday. Sixteen students from LORDS represented our school with pride. Stand out results were:• 1st place – 10 Year Old Freestyle Relay (Aidan S, Georgia

M, Hunter G, Summer B)• 3rd place – 10 year old Medley Relay (Aidan S, Hannah O,

Hunter G, Georgia M)

We also had three students qualify to Districts on Monday. Congratulations goes to:• Ava T (Freestyle and Breaststroke)• Hunter G (Freestyle and Breaststroke)• Georgia M (Butterfly)

We wish these students all the best as they represent LORDS and our zone next week.

TennisTennis is kicking off for the first time this year as part of our interschool competition and two boys from our school are off to a flying start. Zachary R and Harry J will represent LORDS at the Tennis Gold Coast Inter School Challenge on Sunday, February 16. This is a massive tournament with 56 schools and 112 students and an amazing accomplishment to have the courage to play against the Gold Coast’s competition.

Good luck to Zach and Harry!
