Theme for the Year: A Year of Positivity
Dear Members and Friends:
Our worship theme for April is Potluck Positivity. For Sunday, April 3rd
, our theme will be
“Mmm-mmm Good.” In Psalm 34, the Psalmist encouraged the Israelites to taste and see
how good the Lord is. We also need to encourage others to taste and see how good the Lord
is (this is making disciples for Jesus Christ). At the same time, we need to taste and see how
good are the prescriptions of our Consultation Weekend.
I will be on vacation during the Sundays of April 10th
and 17th
. Larry Flood will
be preaching those two Sundays, continuing our Potluck Positivity. On Sunday,
April 10th
, we will have the early service (8:00 a.m.) at the church as we
normally do. For the 10:15 a.m. service, however, we will move to the Trinity
Fellowship Dinner for worship and a Potluck Brunch (see the bulletin for
further details).
“Life with Jesus Is Grrr-e-a-t” is our worship theme for Sunday, April 24th
. As the disciples
discovered in John 21, life without Jesus is blah! Whether that life is as an unbeliever or as a
belief that is only superficial. When we strive to live as a disciple of Christ, we find that life is
grrreat! If we live out the prescriptions given to us, I believe that we will find our church life is
grrreat!
Please join us each exciting week as we experience different levels of “Potluck Positivity.”

What our youth have been up to:… Hannah Hess made her big screen debut in the movie How To Be Single with Rebel Wilson and Dakota Johnson which was released on February 12th. She also competed in the regional TSA competition (Technology Student Association) held at Cumberland Valley High School and placed 3rd for her airplane for Flight Endurance. She along with several other Big Spring students will be going to a state competition at Seven Springs Resort in April. Erica Paisley won the 7th grade Hot Shot competition at the annual March Madness at BSHS on February 20. Josh Paisley placed first at PIAA District III, Section I wrestling tournament on February 20 in Mechanicsburg. In addition, he placed 5th for District III in Hershey on February 27th which qualifies him for States at the Giant Center on March 10-12. He also was awarded a District III Wrestling Coaches Association Scholarship for Books. Ben Fickel’s football team went undefeated this season and won their championship game on February 6. Brian Fickel is The Cobra’s head coach. Blake Barrick placed second at PIAA District III, Section I wrestling tournament on February 20 in Mechanicsburg.

CAMP MAK-A-DREAM… Tickets for the 2016 Camp Mak-A-Dream fundraiser, scheduled for Saturday, May 7th, are now available from Marylue Durff. Chicken-B-Que at noon, activities begin at 1 p.m. Every dollar raised goes to CMAD in Montana to support their children’s, young adult’s and adult’s camping experiences/networking opportunities. These campers become connected to each other and to Camp Make-A-Dream for year round support via social networking. This fundraiser is held in memory of Walnut Bottom’s native son, Michael Durff. To date, 124 weeks of camp have been funded by all of us here in Walnut Bottom, USA. You guys are awesome! Thank you very much! Tickets, $20.00 each, Marylue Durff, 860-9858.
EVERYONE WELCOME! April 10, 2016, 10:15 a.m. Worship Service to be held in TFC with a Potluck Brunch following. Every family is asked to bring a covered dish. Rolls, butter and drinks will be provided. Most recent shut-ins… Mary Alice Gruver is still a patient in room 212 at the
Shippensburg Health Care Center and now needs surgery on her leg in the near future. She has been recuperating from two breaks in her right leg and two broken ribs since late October. She would love to have visitors. Stop in or send her a card.
Clifford Grim is living at his home now and is having therapy several times a week. For a list of other shut-ins, contact the church secretary.

HOPEFUL SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS
Do you need a Sunday school class? Consider yourself invited to the
Hopeful SS class in TFC at 9 AM each Sunday morning!
Discussion is always lively, and new members are always welcome. Bring your own Bible, or borrow
one of the Bibles provided in the classroom. In addition to the weekly lessons, the class has
developed a prayer ministry of concerns and praises. An email update is sent out with the prayer list
and notes from the day’s lesson. We hope that you will join the Hopeful SS

Being a responsible steward of God’s blessings is important. Here are some ways you can become a better steward: Trinity’s Clothing Closet - Please donate your unwanted new or gently
used clothing of all sizes, children’s toys and books, small household items, and decorative items. Open - Every Saturday from 9 AM until noon and the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 9 AM until noon. Note – There is also a FREE table where you can place assorted unwanted items, such as magazines, household items, books, and other odds & ends. Jacksonville Lion’s Club - Our local Lions Club collects eyeglasses and cases, hearing aids, printer cartridges, hospital equipment, assistive devices (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, shower/tub seats, bedside potty chairs, etc.) If in doubt, ask. Smaller items can be placed in boxes in the church and TFC foyers. Call Dave at 422-8907 for more donation information or to borrow medical aids on a temporary basis. Mission Central - This busy United Methodist facility is in Mechanicsburg and is home to MANY missions within the warehouse and around the world. They accept old cell phones, electronics, large household items, and almost anything else that could possibly be used by others. Give them a call at 766-1533 for specific inquiries. Changing Hands – This equipment exchange and reuse program is run by the United Cerebral Palsy of Central PA. Talk to Jackie Wardle or call 1-800-996-4827 to donate hover lifts, scooters, communication devices, vision aids, and many other items. The traditional Trinity’s Trustees chicken BBQ will be held Saturday, May 28 at TFC for eat-in or take-out before the Walnut Bottom Memorial Day parade.
FLEA MARKET & CHICKEN BBQ – JUNE 4 A special flea market and chicken BBQ is planned for Saturday, June 4, at the South Newton TVFC for the benefit of the Tara Garman family. Megan Goodhart Orris is organizing the event and will need our help. Contact her if you are interested in setting up tables for the flea market, buying chicken meals, or helping in other ways. Trinity’s Future Have you heard the exciting news that Trinity might be joining forces with three churches in our immediate area – Lees Cross Roads, Hays Grove, and Cleversburg? Discussions first began within the Leesburg Charge, and they approved moving forward with the idea. The first meeting of representatives from all four churches was at 2 PM on Sunday, March 13, 2016 in Leesburg. Trinity’s committee is made up of Pastor Harold Bolyard, Marylue Durff, Tom Holmes, Beverly Rosenberry, and Mike Wadel. They welcome your questions or suggestions.
Important things to remember in the coming months: Keep an open mind. Be receptive.

Positivity is contagious! Catch it!
HAPPINESS & LAUGHTER Create a habit of happiness and laughter instead of a habit of worry. When you laugh, it lowers stress hormones and relieves stress. Laughter also boosts the immune system, protects the heart, and improves overall health. Ten belly laughs a day are equivalent to getting a good aerobic exercise workout, and they're the ultimate stress buster. Why Go to Church If you're spiritually alive, you're going to love this! If you're spiritually dead, you won't want to read it. If you're spiritually curious, there is still hope! A churchgoer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. “I've gone for 30 years now,” he wrote, “and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons, but for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time, and the preachers and priests are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all.” This started a real controversy in the 'Letters to the Editor' column. Much to the delight of the editor, it went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: “I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!”

every Christian a deep, settled fullness of the JOY of
Christ that no circumstance of life can dispel. This comes as you allow the Holy Spirit to express Himself in your life.
One of the fruits of the Spirit is JOY (Galatians 5:22).
This JOY is unlike any happiness that is produced by the
world. It fills you and permeates everything you do. Jesus did not pray that you would merely be happy or even that you would escape grief. He prayed that you
would have the same JOY that the Father had given
Him: a divine JOY, a JOY that comes from a deep and
unwavering relationship with the Father. It is a JOY that
is grounded so firmly in a relationship with God that no change in circumstances could ever shake it. This is the
kind of JOY that Christ is praying will be in you.

URGENT NEED FOR UMCOR CLEANING BUCKETS
In mid-March, the Mechanicsburg Mission Central facility shipped out 1,944 cleaning buckets to UMCOR Sagar Brown in Baldwin, LA. The buckets are needed for the massive flooding in North LA and in South TX and have totally depleted the supply in Mechanicsburg. The following items are needed to replenish the cleaning bucket supply for continued help in LA and TX and any new emergencies: 14-14 ½“ tall 5-
gallon bucket & resealable lid (buckets & lids from fast-food restaurants or bakeries can be washed & cleaned for use, but no buckets that had caustic chemicals; advertisements on the sides are OK); liquid laundry detergent in 25 or 50 oz. bottles; liquid household cleaner in 12-16 bottles (no spray bottles); dish soap in 16-28 bottles; air freshener in aerosol can or pump; personal insect repellant spray in 6-14 oz. aerosol or spray pump with protective cover (packets of 20 insect repellant wipes OK); hand-held scrub brush with plastic or wooden handle (no toilet, kitchen, or dish brushes); cleaning wipes (handi-wipes or reusable wipes); sponges (dry cellulose or foam sponges); scouring pads (no Brillo, SOS, or metal pads due to rust issues; nothing with soap built-in); clothespins (lots of 50 in gallon sealable bags); clothesline (2-50’ or 1-100’ cotton, plastic, or nylon); heavy-duty trash bags (at least 1.5-2 mil, 33-45 gallon size); dust masks (in lots of 5, can be put in bags with clothespins); disposable kitchen gloves (rubber or latex, not light-weight hospital gloves); work gloves.
