The Lunar Initiatives

Creating a Marketplace of Solutions for the Lunar Frontier

4th International Workshop on LunarCubes October 8, 2014

Sunnyvale, California

“If you don’t like the news … Go out and make some of your own.” Scoop Nisker, KFOG Reporter C. 1982

“After four years of trying to establish the aerospace startup - Flexure Engineering - I didn’t like the news so I created : The Lunar Initiatives. The Lunar Initiatives are an open source, collaborative framework to open up the Lunar Frontier for all Mankind.” Russell Cox, CEO Flexure Engineering

What is a LunarCube ?

The IBM PC was the first CubeSat.

It was a well designed empty box that could be be filled with your imagination, entrepreneurial chutzpah, or just plain good business sense.

The LunarCube Standard ( if and when it is developed ) will describe a well defined box based on iPhone class software and hardware suitable for deep space applications and aspirations.

The Road to the Moon is Open …

ISS Supply Chain

• NanoRacks

• Dagon Trunk

Geosynchronous Supply Chain

ESPA Ring Secondaries and Carriers

• Moog • ULA • Space Flight

The Road to the Moon is Open …

Modular POD Carriers

• 90Kg and 150Kg

• 2x3 Modules – Propulsion, 3U Deployer, 6U Deployer

• 3 Spacecraft Adapters • SSL – GTO to GSO

• ESPA – LEO to Deep Space Disposal Orbits

• Astrobotic – TLI to 100 Km Lunar Orbit

Flexure Engineering will initiate a design framework and coordinate initial development of these Modular POD Carriers.
