Session 12: Poster production Log

Page 2: The lying game poster production

Firstly after choosing the image that I decided to use from our film of the Mysterious girl’s hand using Photoshop.

To get the picture into Photo you have to save the picture as a Jpeg and open it into Photoshop.

When I started editing my picture, the image was very dark and the picture needed to be condensed.

So I firstly cropped the picture using the crop tool and then decided to change the lightning on the picture by going unto the layer and using the brightness and contrast tool.

However after making these changes it was difficult to expand the picture without looking all pixelated. So had to create a new layer on top of the other layer and hold down the shift and ctrl button so it would not come out all stretched.

In our Thriller/ horror film to give the audience hints that it was the mysterious new girl the ring creates great importance; for that reason to highlight the ring:I went to filter and tried many filters to see which one worked well so and eventually the filter render and the lens flare was used to focus on the ring.

To create the focus on the ring I had to place the smaller ring in position so that the red ring which around the ring is highlighted. The two problems I had with using this filter is that the light surrounding the ring was so much that people may not know it is a ring. Also after the filter was rasterized the lens flare could not come off.

I decided to use the 3D as I saw it was effective in one of the movie Posters I researched. To make my title in the 3D effect I decided to the magic wand in Photoshop to create the effect of the title in the background then I could just place the title into the background.

In many of the movie posters I researched the display and positioning of names and the credits were very important. So I used the rulers to make sure the names were equally spaced at the end of page.

Also to create the spacing equally between each of the names I wrote all the names in one box and the surnames together in one box to make sure they were equally spaced

The tag line I chose in the beginning did not really compliment my movie so eventually I chose this tag line. the difficult was choosing the font especially as there was not much of a range but I chose Bernard MT condensed and the colour chose was used to compliment the background but not over take the picture.
