What is it Literary Tourism?
Literary Tourism is considered a newly niche tourism and very personalized, because
each person interprets it differently. As far as Eagle & Carnell (1977) said this type of tourism has
been defined as tourists visit ―... places associated with writers that has often prompted readers
to become pilgrims: to visit a birthplace and contemplate the surroundings of an author‘s child-
hood, to see with fresh eyes places that inspired poems or books, to pay homage at grave side
or public memorial‖, which mean that any individual after read a book wants to travel to the
places that wore set to a story.
This type of tourism have a several number of well succeed Literary Destination, such as
Harry Potter (J.K. Rowling) or The Da Vinci Code (Dan Brown) or Pride and Prejudice (Jane Aus-
ten).
In general, people visit this place, because they want to be at the same places as they fa-
vorite characters and relive the same feels that the character lived or felt.
In these days, this type of tourism is associated with Movie Induced Tourism, because
both types capture the attention of the reader or the spectator and create the necessary of visit
that place.
