BRRRR…. It got cold so fast!
We are excited to see you all this Sunday November 3rd at 1pm
for the 2019 Marshall County End Of Year Celebration!
REMEMBER that we fall back an hour so don’t forget to turn your
clocks back.
A reminder that if you enroll and pay before November 15th you
will receive the early enrollment discount. If you complete
enrollment by November 15th your fee is $20.00, anytime after
November 16th will be $30.00. You must be enrolled by May 15th.
Did you know that if you have a family larger than three kids in 4th
grade or above you will not pay for more than three kids! That
program is sponsored by the Marshall County 4-H Foundation.
We hope you are able to enjoy your time Trick or Treating. If you
are around State Center area Chelsea and Megan will be doing
Trunk or Treat on Main Street from 5-7pm on October 31st. Stop
by and see us!!

On January 10th join 4-H members and friends at the Marshalltown YMCA/YQCA for a
Lock in! We will get to swim, do fun games, and even complete a community service
project! This is open to ALL youth in 4-8th grade so bring a friend along!!

Hygiene Drive:
Join the 2019-2020 Marshall County 4-H Youth
Ambassadors as they collect hygiene products to donate to
people in need in Marshall County. Please drop donations
off between now and December 2nd at the ISU Extension
Office in Marshalltown. Products can include, but not limited
to:
Beef Weigh-ins:
Hello Beef Exhibitors - Fall is here and we hope the search
for your next beef project is going well. Beef Weigh In has
been set for Sunday, Dec.15th from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the
Central Iowa Fairgrounds.
Cost will be $5 for county fair and $10 if nominating for state
fair. Please keep in mind if you purchase a breed steer that
you will need to have the sire name and registration number
along with the steer tattoo number with you when you come
to weigh in. The steer should be tattooed by then as well. If
you have any questions, please let the beef committee
know.
Large Animal Clinic:
Officer Training: RESCHEDULED DATE: November 16th
On November 16th we will be holding an officer training for
all club officers. We will learn about your role as a club
officer and learn about how to properly run a club meeting. If
you plan on having club officers attend please RSVP to
Megan at [email protected] by November 13th. Must have
at least five people to hold the training
4-H Club Treasurers Training: November 4th
We will be holding a workshop to engage club treasurers
and leaders on the processes and procedures on holding
your club monies in the extension operating funds. We will
go over bringing a deposit in, filing for reimbursement, and
how to read your clubs monthly balance sheet. Please

Marshall County Youth Ambassadors Bake
Sale: November 24th
Marshall County Youth Ambassadors will be having a bake
sale at Theisens Sunday, November 24th from noon to
4pm! Proceeds will be used to help fund scholarships and
community service events.
Scrap Metal Drive: November 9th
Liscomb Lively Laborers will be having a scrap metal drive
on November 9th, any metal donations welcome call April or
Brett, and Mike or Shawnda! We can pick up before hand as
well! This fundraiser support our community service events
and scholarships!

The Marshalltown
Trailblazers hosted
a Spaghetti Lunch
Fundraiser for the
Central Iowa
Christian Home
Educators in
October. They
made all the sauce from scratch and fed almost 200
people after a long day of homeschool co-op classes.
In October, the
Marshalltown Trailblazers
volunteered hours for a
business in our community
by picking apples for
Appleberry Farm to make
cider over the winter.
Melbourne 4-H collected Hygiene items for the Hygiene
Drive!
Poultry Interest Division Bake Sale:
November 23rd
The poultry division will be holding a Fundraiser Bake Sale
at Theisens on Saturday November 23 from 8am to 12pm.
Any one that will be baking for the bake sale please let
Renee know. Contact Renee Anagnos at 641-691-5436 or
[email protected]. We are trying to sell whole
items instead of individually wrapped desserts. Such as
pies, breads, cakes etc. You may drop your deserts off at
the extension office Friday, November 22 before noon, so I
may pick up during my lunch or drop them off at Theisens
the day of by 8am.
Iowa 4-H Foundation Scholarships Open
November 20th
These scholarships are not only available for high school
seniors but some are also available for college students!
Instructions, helpful hints, and a complete list of
scholarships can be found here.
Iowa 4-H Camera Corps:
The Iowa 4-H Camera Corps is a group where 4-H
members with an interest in photography can explore
their interest. If you are interested you can still apply
online to be a part of the 2019-2020 Iowa 4-H
Camera Corps. Contact Megan if you have any
questions or are interested in joining.
Pop Tabs for Jacy Service Project:
The 2019-2020 State 4-H Council wants to carry on Jacy
McAlexander's legacy by continuing to collect pop tabs
from around the state in his honor. Check out the Pop
Tabs for Jacy flyer to find out more about Jacy’s legacy
and details of the program. Counties can collect pop tabs
and bring them to the Youth Conference check-in on
Tuesday, June 30, or choose to drop them off at the state
office anytime between now and then.
* Marshall County would like to challenge 4-H clubs to
collect pop tabs from now until June 29th. The club with
the most pop tabs turned in will receive $50.00 to shop on
the 4-H Mall!!
Servers needed for House Of Compassion:
Is your 4-H Club looking for a Community Service Project?
The House Of Compassion is in need of groups to provide
meals. They are looking for groups all the time to serve. If
your club is interested please contact March at the House
of Compassion at 641-752-5999.
