GABY WOOGIE, A LOCAL TALENTWHO SHARES HIS STORY OF HOWHE GOT OFF THE TRAIN TOPURSUE HIS PASSION MAKINGMUSICAL TRACKS

Gaby Woogie was driving trains for CNRwhen he settled in Gore in 2008. Two yearslater he began his retirement, where musicwill take a big place. Born in Jonquière inthe Saguenay region, he learned the pianoby watching his uncles and aunts. Helearns his mother’s fingering who alsosings and plays melodies. Soon, guitars, violins and spoons are surrounding thepiano, making for happy family singersand dancers. In his early twenties hediscovered blues and boogie woogie; JerryLee Lewis and Pinetop Perkins, the pianistof Muddy Waters, are his idols and headopts their styles. He likes to play thesehappy rhythms where people have fun andforget their problems, says Gaby Woogie. After living in several cities in Quebec,Gaby arrives in Montreal where hediscovers blues jams. For a decade, heattended these jams and he became knownto several artists. He integrates severalteachings, but his work prevents him fromgetting involved as he would have liked. He is still present in the community. Hesets up his own blues, country and boogiewoogie orchestras. During his lifetime, hemeets several pianists from Chicago; Big

Moose Walker, Junior Strait, PinetopPerkins; he has seen the shows of justabout every blues legend. Since hisretirement in 2010, Gaby started com -posing. After joining Argenteuil’s in BluesJam, he composes some songs and herealizes that he has a lot to tell. "At first Iwas nervous about whether my partners;Jean Patrick Blain and JP BluesmanBélanger would like to play them ... I wassurprised that Yes! » says Gaby Woogie. Tothis day, Gaby Woogie has a blues album, two country albums and a third ready forthe studio. He composes in French, but hesays: "Often it's from English" soaccustomed to singing in Shakespeare'slanguage.

His two country albums; the first "CountryFestival" and the second "In Love"recorded with André Proulx and Jean GuyGrenier among others, have a good successon the radio in Quebec, in the Maritimesand even in the US by the SyriusXM ticket.A show is in preparation, and he is lookingfor a local multi - instrumentalist. Bluesfans from Gore and Argenteuil are familiarwith Gaby Woogie's melodies and lyrics, and he invites you to join him at the variousblues jams he hosts in the region.

UNWANTED PLANTSFor many years now, the subject of invasiveforeign plants has received a lot ofattention in Quebec. These unwantedplants are not naturally present in ourenvironments. They were introduced eithervoluntarily for ornamental reasons or for biological control purposes, or acci -dentally. In Gore, as elsewhere, we are notimmune to such plants. As they represent aserious threat to indigenous biodiversity,we ask that you stay on the lookout. Somecases of Japanese knotweed have beenobserved on our territory. In addition tothis, the giant hogweed, the Buckthorn orCathartic Buckthorn, the phragmite(common reed), represent several otherspecies to which we must remain vigilantin order to protect our ecosystems.

We also remind you that lice grassassociated with allergies and poison ivyassociated with painful skin reactions mustbe controlled.
