From the desk of Vivian Abitabilo…

Happy New Year! With the new year comes a new President of the Golden Age Club, me! I want to thank Arlene Rosa for her wonderful leadership for the last two years. Now it’s my turn to lead you and I promise a year of meaningful interactions at the meetings. We planned wonderful trips for the year too. January’s meeting schedule has changed. Since January has 5 Wednesdays, we decided to have our first meeting on Wednesday, January 9th and Pizza Bingo on January 23rd. This allows us to recuperate from the holiday events. February schedule will go back to the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays. Please feel free to let me know if there are any special wishes for the group.

Northvale residents yearly membership fee is $10 and non-residents yearly membership is $12. Cash or check is accepted. If paying by check, please make check payable to: The James F. McGuire Senior Center. Membership dues need to be paid in order to continue receiving the monthly Newsletter. The deadline for payment is February 15th. I appreciate your continued support.

AN EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT TO BENEFIT THE SENIOR CENTER

A Northvale resident, Andrew Dacuba, has been striving to earn his Eagle Scout ranking in Boy Scouts. Andrew approached me several months ago with his intended project. That project was to “give back to the community” in which he chose The James F. McGuire Senior Center. Andrew, in conjunction with his Pack, have been painting the Center. They have painted the outside railings, all of the door trims

throughout, all the doors; both inside and out, the storage/stock room shelving and bathroom radiators. Not only have they devoted their personal time, but they have provided ALL of the supplies at no cost to the Center! On behalf of The Senior Center, I would like to extend our sincerest gratitude and appreciation to Andrew and his Pack for a job well done. Congratulations Andrew on earning your Eagle Scout rank – a very prestigious award in which you should be proud.

Effective immediately, we will no longer be receiving bread or baked items

from Panera. I apologize for the inconvenience.
