Medical Bill 20145. Licence

● Licenced under the category of their registration with or without restrictions or conditions as the Council may determine.

● All licences shall take effect on the date specified in the licence and shall be valid for the year in which it is issued and shall expire on the 31st day of December of that year unless the licence has been cancelled.

● Licences will not be issued to any person who is not a public officer, a citizen of The Bahamas, a permanent resident with the

rights to work, without the concurrence of the Minister responsible for Immigration.

● The Council shall cause to be published annually in the gazette after the 31st day of January, a list of all Medical Practitioners licenced under this Act.

Medical Bill 20146. Standard of Professional Conduct The Code of Conduct/Principles In general, a doctor is expected to:

1. Be dedicated to providing competent, compassionate and appropriate medical ace to

patients.

2. Be and advocate for patients’ care and well being and endeavor to ensure that patients suffers no harm.

3. Provide access to treat patients without prejudice of race, religion, creed, social standing, disability or financial status. A doctor shall also be prepared to treat patients on an emergency or humanitarian basis when circumstances prevail.

4. Abide by all laws and regulations governing medical practice and abide by the Code of Ethics of the profession.

5. Maintain the highest standards of moral integrity and intellectual honesty.
