TRANSCRIPT

  • The men had a great time at the Mikvah last Shabbat. Anyone like to share about it?

  • In 3 weeks Ill be teaching Prayer For The Palestinian Problem. Its my most well known teaching, Ive been sharing it for about 24 years now.

  • The teaching is a run down of what is really happening between Israel and the Palestinians. It makes it easy to understand what the situation over there is actually about and what the Israelis are up against. Its very political in nature (non religious) and leaves no room for misunderstanding the true motives of the players in the region.

  • Having lived in Israel as many years as I have I give first hand information as to how many of the PLO factions were born and their motives. I produce documents that were given to me by friends in the Israeli Government that show the true nature of the conflict. It is a report you wont want to miss. Please invite your unsaved friends, theyll appreciate it.

  • The local JCA (Jewish Charities of America) office realized that the organization had never received a donation from the town's most successful lawyer. The person in charge of contributions called him to persuade him to contribute.

  • "Our research shows that out of a yearly income of at least $500,000, you give not a penny to charity. Wouldn't you like to give back to the community in some way?"

  • The lawyer mulled this over for a moment and replied, "First, did your research also show that my mother is dying after a long illness, and has medical bills that are several times her annual income?" Embarrassed, the JCA rep mumbled, "Um ... no."

  • The lawyer interrupted, "or that my brother, a disabled veteran, is blind and confined to a wheelchair?" The stricken JCA rep began to stammer out an apology, but was interrupted again.

  • "or that my sister's husband died in a traffic accident," the lawyer's voice rising in indignation, "leaving her penniless with three children?!"

  • The humiliated JCA rep, completely beaten, said "I had no idea..." The lawyer cut him off once again

  • "So if I don't give any money to them, why should I give any to you?"

  • On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and there was the sounding of a very loud SHOFAR blast. Everyone in the camp trembled.

  • Please stand for the Shema and face east towards Jerusalem.

  • Shema Israel Adoni Elohaynu Adoni Echad.Barukh shem k'vod malkhuto l'olam va'ed.

  • Hear oh Israel the L-rd our G-d is one L-rd. Blessed be the Name of His glorious kingdom for ever and ever.

  • Because Messiah said it is the greatest Commandment!Mark 12:28-2928And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, Which is the greatest commandment of all?29And Yeshua answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is One Lord:

  • Please stand for the Israeli National Anthem!

  • Meet new people! Let them see that Messianics truly understand community and brotherly/sisterly love. Say hello to old friends show that you care!

  • We say the L-rds Prayer (Our Prayer) because Yeshua toldus this is how we should pray.We pray so G-d will hear our petitionsand grant whichever prayers are in accord with His will. We also prayIn order to bless Him. Matt will be leading us today.

  • Pray for Salvation and healing for our loved ones. You can email these prayers to ? and they will then be sent to the wailing wall in Jerusalem to be placed in the wall.

  • We have a service that is doing this for us and then in Oct. our own Missionaries will be placing them there in person.

  • Prayer for Salvation for the Jewish people. Why do we pray for Israel?

  • Because its a Commandment! Psalms 1226 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. 7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces. 8 For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say , Peace be within thee. 9 Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good.

  • How does one identify with Israel? Many different ways. 1. Praying for it2. Empathizing with it3. Becoming it.

  • You certainly dont become it by forsaking her Laws and precepts (rule of action).

  • Prayer for Salvation for the Jewish people.Sha'alu shalom Yerushalayim Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem. May His Shalom (Yeshua) come quickly.

  • Pray for our government and for Social Security needs. Pray for Holland and other countries that anti-Semitic laws will not continue to pass.

  • For victims of crime. Prayer over our tithes and offerings. Messianic Evangelistic group in Vancouver BC

  • End

  • Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Malachi 3:8

  • Blessing Before The Reading Of The Torah

  • Deuteronomy 7:12-11:25 Isaiah 49:14-51:3Acts 6-7Aug 20, 2011 Ekev "Because"

  • Well readDeuteronomy 3:23-7:11 Isaiah 40:1-26Acts 3-5Aug 13, 2011 Ve'etchanan "And I besought"Deuteronomy 4:1-14 Isaiah 40:1-26Acts 3:1-10

  • 1 "Now, Isra'el, listen to the laws and rulings I am teaching you, in order to follow them, so that you will live; then you will go in and take possession of the land that ADONAI, the God of your fathers, is giving you. 2 In order to obey the mitzvot of ADONAI your God which I am giving you, do not add to what I am saying, and do not subtract from it. Deuteronomy 4:1-14

  • 3 You saw with your own eyes what ADONAI did at Ba'al-P'or, that ADONAI destroyed from among you all the men who followed Ba'al-P'or; 4 but you who stuck with ADONAI your God are still alive today, every one of you. 5 Look, I have taught you laws and rulings, just as ADONAI my God ordered me, so that you can behave accordingly in the land where you are going in order to take possession of it. Deuteronomy 4:1-14

  • 6 Therefore, observe them; and follow them; for then all peoples will see you as having wisdom and understanding. When they hear of all these laws, they will say, 'This great nation is surely a wise and understanding people.' 7 For what great nation is there that has God as close to them as ADONAI our God is, whenever we call on him? 8 What great nation is there that has laws and rulings as just as this entire Torah which I am setting before you today? Deuteronomy 4:1-14

  • 9 Only be careful, and watch yourselves diligently as long as you live, so that you won't forget what you saw with your own eyes, so that these things won't vanish from your hearts. Rather, make them known to your children and grandchildren -Deuteronomy 4:1-14

  • 10 the day you stood before ADONAI your God at Horev, when ADONAI said to me, 'Gather the people to me, and I will make them hear my very words, so that they will learn to hold me in awe as long as they live on earth, and so that they will teach their children.'Deuteronomy 4:1-14

  • 11 You approached and stood at the foot of the mountain; and the mountain blazed with fire to the heart of heaven, with darkness, clouds and thick mist. 12 Then ADONAI spoke to you out of the fire! You heard the sound of words but saw no shape, there was only a voice. Deuteronomy 4:1-14

  • 13 He proclaimed his covenant to you, which he ordered you to obey, the Ten Words; and he wrote them on two stone tablets. 14 At that time ADONAI ordered me to teach you laws and rulings, so that you would live by them in the land you are entering in order to take possession of it.Deuteronomy 4:1-14

  • 1 "Comfort and keep comforting my people," says your God. 2 "Tell Yerushalayim to take heart; proclaim to her that she has completed her time of service, that her guilt has been paid off, that she has received at the hand of ADONAI double for all her sins." 3 A voice cries out: "Clear a road through the desert for ADONAI! Level a highway in the 'Aravah for our God! Is. 40:1-26

  • 4 Let every valley be filled in, every mountain and hill lowered, the bumpy places made level and the crags become a plain. 5 Then the glory of ADONAI will be revealed; all humankind together will see it, for the mouth of ADONAI has spoken." 6 A voice says, "Proclaim!" And I answer, "What should I proclaim?" "All humanity is merely grass, all its kindness like wildflowers:Is. 40:1-26

  • 7 the grass dries up, the flower fades, when a wind from ADONAI blows on it. Surely the people are grass! 8 The grass dries up, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever." 9 You who bring good news to Tziyon, get yourself up on a high mountain; you who bring good news to Yerushalayim, cry out at the top of your voice! Don't be afraid to shout out loud! Say to the cities of Y'hudah, "Here is your God! 10 Here comes Adonai ELOHIM with power, and his arm will rule for him. Look! His reward is with him, and his recompense is before him.Is. 40:1-26

  • 11 He is like a shepherd feeding his flock, gathering his lambs with his arm, carrying them against his chest, gently leading the mother sheep." 12 Who has counted the handfuls of water in the sea, measured off the sky with a ruler, gauged how much dust there is on the earth, weighed the mountains on scales, or the hills in a balance? Is. 40:1-26

  • 13 Who has measured the Spirit of ADONAI? Who has been his counselor, instructing him? 14 Whom did he consult, to gain understanding? Who taught him how to judge, taught him what he needed to know, showed him how to discern? 15 The nations are like a drop in a bucket, they count like a grain of dust on the scales. The islands weigh as little as specks of dust. Is. 40:1-26

  • 16 The L'vanon would not suffice for fuel or its animals be enough for burnt offerings. 17 Before him all the nations are like nothing. He regards them as less than nothing. 18 With whom, then, will you compare God? By what standard will you evaluate him? 19 An image made by a craftsman, which a goldsmith overlays with gold, for which he then casts silver chains? Is. 40:1-26

  • 20 A man too poor to afford an offering chooses a piece of wood that won't rot, then seeks out a skilled artisan to prepare an image that won't fall over. 21 Don't you know? Don't you hear? Haven't you been told from the start? Don't you understand how the earth is set up? 22 He who sits above the circle of the earth - for whom its inhabitants appear like grasshoppers - stretches out the heavens like a curtain, spreads them out like a tent to live in. Is. 40:1-26

  • 23 He reduces princes to nothing, the rulers of the earth to emptiness. 24 Scarcely are they planted, scarcely sown, scarcely their stem taken root in the ground, when he blows on them, they dry up, and the whirlwind carries them off like straw. 25 "With whom, then, will you compare me? With whom am I equal?" asks the Holy One. Is. 40:1-26

  • 26 Turn your eyes to the heavens! See who created these? He brings out the army of them in sequence, summoning each by name. Through his great might and his massive strength, not one of them is missing. ENDIs. 40:1-26

  • 1 One afternoon at three o'clock, the hour of minchah prayers, as Kefa and Yochanan were going up to the Temple, 2 a man crippled since birth was being carried in. Every day people used to put him at the Beautiful Gate of the Temple, so that he could beg from those going into the Temple court. Acts 3:1-10

  • 3 When he saw Kefa and Yochanan about to enter, he asked them for some money. 4 But they stared straight at him; and Kefa said, "Look at us!" 5 The crippled man fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. Acts 3:1-10

  • 6 Kefa said, "I don't have silver, and I don't have gold, but what I do have I give to you: in the name of the Messiah, Yeshua of Natzeret, walk!" 7 And taking hold of him by his right hand, Kefa pulled him up. Instantly his feet and ankles became strong; Acts 3:1-10

  • 8 so that he sprang up, stood a moment, and began walking. Then he entered the Temple court with them, walking and leaping and praising God! 9 Everyone saw him walking and praising God. Acts 3:1-10

  • 10 They recognized him as the same man who had formerly sat begging at the Beautiful Gate of the Temple, and they were utterly amazed and confounded at what had happened to him.Acts 3:1-10

  • Baruch atah Adonay Eloheynu melech ha'olam, asher bachar-banu mikol ha'amim, venatan-lanu et torah-to. Baruch atah Adonay, noten hatorah.

  • Blessed are You, LORD our God, king of the universe, who chose us from all the peoples and gave to us His Torah. Blessed are You, LORD, giver of the Torah.

  • Were doing the second part of our Messianic Apologetics Class Messianic Pepper Spray

  • What were doing in this teaching is were answering typical questions or accusations put to Messianics and refuting them using Scripture and common sense.

  • Last time we ended by leaving the non-messianic believer with the fact that he didnt even know what the Gospel is.

  • Knowing what the Gospel is is fundamental and you need to show them that they havent even been taught that at Church.

  • Heres how we started that part of the conversation

  • My reply: Can you tell me one simple thing then, the one thing you should know beyond a shadow of a doubt what is the Gospel?

  • Non-Messianic: I know what the Gospel is!My reply: Then tell me.

  • Non-Messianic: The Gospel is that Jesus came and died for my sins and was then resurrected that I may have eternal life.

  • My reply: No it isnt and I can prove itJesus called James and John to follow Him in Mathew chapter 422And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

  • My reply: 23And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

  • My reply: This is the very beginning of Mathew. Jesus hadnt revealed to anyone that He was going to die let alone rise from the dead for their sins. So obviously, the Gospel has nothing to do with his death and resurrection.

  • My reply: Did you know that no one knew He was going to die in the beginning?Non-Messianic: Yes, I did know that. After His death it says in John 20 verse 9

  • Non-Messianic: 9 They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.

  • My reply: Right, so now you realize that you dont even know what the Gospel is. Its one of the very fundamentals of our faith and you havent been taught the truth about it.

  • Non-Messianic: Ok so what is the Gospel? My reply: How long have you been a Christian?Non-Messianic: All my life.My reply: Would you attend a Church where the Pastor doesnt even know what the Gospel is???

  • Non-Messianic: Absolutely not!My reply: Does YOUR Pastor know what the gospel is?Non-Messianic: Im sure he does.

  • My reply: Lets give him a call, cause Id love to know if your Pastor knows what the Gospel is.Pastor: Hello?

  • Non-Messianic: Hi Pastor, I have a quick question for you.Pastor: Sure what is it?Non-Messianic: What is the Gospel.Pastor: Oh thats easy, its that Jesus came and died for our sins.

  • Non-Messianic: Well, Pastor, in Chapter 4 of Mathew right when Jesus selected James and John to follow him it says right after that Jesus went all through the Galilee preaching the Gospel. But Jesus hadnt revealed that He was going to die yet.

  • Pastor: Hmm, good question, let me find out and Ill get back to ya.Non-Messianic: Ok thanks.

  • My reply: What did he say.Non-Messianic: He said hed get back to me. My reply: So he didnt know off the top of his head what the Gospel was?

  • Non-Messianic: Um, I guess not.My reply: Does he teach that youre supposed to give ten percent, a tithe, of what you make to the Church?Non-Messianic: Yeah

  • My reply: Right, so he knows about that, but this whole Gospel thing is out of his league. Hmm, how bout that?Do you believe you should be following a Pastor who doesnt know what the Gospel is right off the top of his head?Non-Messianic: Probably not.So tell me what it is then!

  • My reply: The Gospel is Jesus Mishna.Non-Messianic: His what?My reply: His Mishna.Non-Messianic: Whats that mean?

  • My reply: In the first century, it was customary for Rabbis to seek out Disciples. That marked the beginning of their ministry. Those disciples would then begin to memorize the teachings of that Rabbi and then pass it on to their students when they became Rabbis.

  • My reply: This would go on from generation to generation. These teachings they passed on was called their Mishna.

  • My reply: The Disciples of Jesus were no different in this regard. They were expected to memorize His words and teach what He taught. And they did exactly that. They wrote all this information down and today it is called The Gospels.

  • My reply: Once Jesus secured his first Disciples He was then able to correct any false teachings that had strayed into Judaism since the time of Moses and the Prophets.

  • My reply: The Jews had been waiting for an Authority such as this for many years. When it finally came, it was good news, it was very good news and thats what gospel means in Greek, good news.

  • My reply: The good news had nothing to do with his death and resurrection because Yeshua was preaching the Gospel long before anyone knew what was going to happen to Him.Non-Messianic: Oh, well, I knew all that.My reply: No, you really didnt you gave me an incorrect answer and that has to be noted.

  • My reply: You didnt even know what a Mishna was or that the Gospel didnt include the death and resurrection of Jesus. But its ok, Im not blaming you, Im blaming those who havent taught you correctly.

  • Non-Messianic: Well, maybe thats all true butas a Gentile, all I have to keep is the Ten Commandments. My reply: Do you keep the Ten Commandments? Non-Messianic: Yep

  • My reply: Actually you dont even keep all of those, you dont keep the Sabbath so thats not even a true statement either. Lets try to keep our answers truthful. Non-Messianic: Are you calling me a liar??? My reply: Not at all, Im simply saying let our yea be yea and our nay be nay.

  • My reply: You should know that there are many other Commandments in the Old Testament that you keep besides the 9 Commandments you are keeping. Like the Commandment in Lev. 20:17

  • My reply: 20:17 And if a man shall take his sister, his father's daughter, or his mother's daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people: he hath uncovered his sister's nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.

  • My reply: This passage is talking about having sex with ones sister. You also keep that commandment.

  • My reply: So, you really cant say the Old Testament is done away with, you continue to follow parts of it.Non-Messianic: Well, thats because theyre mentioned in the New Testament.

  • My reply: Sleeping with ones sister isnt mentioned once in the New Testament yet you still follow it.So what youre saying is you follow the 9 commandments and the moral laws.

  • Non-Messianic: Well yeah were supposed to keep those laws. My reply: So now we know the Old Testament isnt done away with, thats painfully clear. So what other Laws in the Old Testament do you keep? Non-Messianic: I dont know.

  • My reply: Well you know its sin that separates one from God right? Non-Messianic: Yes My reply: Well breaking one of Gods laws is sin, thats what defines sin

  • My reply: So shouldnt you know what sins youre committing? Non-Messianic: Yes My reply: So lets recap real quick you didnt know what the gospel was and you dont know what sins youre committing Again, I dont blame you for any of this, this is what youve been taught by your Pastor.

  • Non-Messianic: I just do what my Pastor says and he says all we have to do is ask Jesus to forgive us and then were ok. My reply: Right and this is the Pastor who doesnt know what the Gospel is. Non-Messianic: Yeah, but he does speak with authority.

  • My reply: 1 Timothy 1 says: 6 Some have wandered away from these and turned to meaningless talk. 7 They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm. When you die, youll be standing before G-d alone. Youre Pastor wont be anywhere around.

  • My reply: Id add, you dont only have to ask Jesus to forgive you, you also have to repent and make any restitution that needs to be madeNon-Messianic: Wow, youre a Judahizer! My reply: Do you even know what a Judahizer is?

  • Non-Messianic: Yeah, its someone who believes that the Law can save them. My reply: No, thats a legalist and Ive made it clear that we are Saved by grace. After that we are to follow G-ds Laws.

  • My reply: The way you just used the word legalist has made it to mean anyone who follows more of G-ds Laws then yourself.

  • My reply: If that is the definition of legalist then anyone who observes 8 of the 10 commandments can rightfully call you a legalist because you keep more laws then they do

  • My reply: and anyone who keeps 7 of the Ten Commandments can call the person who keeps 8 of them a legalist as well. So it all becomes really silly then doesnt it.So before you call me any names, make sure you know what the word means.

  • Non-Messianic: Then whats a Judahizer? Because Im pretty sure youre one of those! My reply: A Judahizer is someone who tells one they must first become a Jew and then they can get Saved. We teach the opposite, first you get Saved then you become a Jew.Were anti-Judahizers.

  • Non-Messianic: Well, Im a spiritual Jew!My reply: A Jew is someone who is one by blood line or is one by keeping all of G-ds Laws and youre neither of those. In fact heres what it says in Rev. 3

  • My reply: Rev 3:9 Behold , I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie ; behold , I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

  • My reply: So its really not a good idea to be calling yourself a Jew when youre not one.You dont really want to be of the Synagogue of Satan do ya?Non-Messianic: No.

  • Non-Messianic: Well, Messianics are nothing but a bunch of wanna be Jews anyway. My reply: If theyre keeping G-ds Holy Laws, they ARE Jews and can rightfully call themselves that.Jesus was a Jew too and were supposed to be like Him, so shouldnt they want to be like Jesus?

  • Non-Messianic: The Jews say youre only Jewish if your mother is Jewish. My reply: That was a Rabbinical law laid down by Rabbi Rashi a thousand years after Yeshua was here and we dont agree with that Rabbi on this matterWhat G-d said is,

  • My reply: Im the father of Abraham Isaac and Jacob, not Sarah, Rebecca and Rachel. The fact is one who is Jewish by blood is Jewish by either side, just like any other race.If your dad is Irish, what does that make you?Non-Messianic: Irish. My reply: So, you see how common sense can go a long way?

  • Non-Messianic: Galatians 2:14 says Peter lived like a Gentile. My reply: Yes, it does say that and then we see Paul immediately rebuking him for that and Peter then repented. Why did he repent if he wasnt doing something wrong?

  • Non-Messianic: Well when Jesus came we became circumcised of the heart. My reply: Youre referencing Romans 2 but did you know the Old Testament talks about circumcision of the heart too?Deut 30 says

  • My reply: 5 And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed , and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good , and multiply thee above thy fathers. 6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

  • My reply: So their hearts were circumcised when they came into The Land. That was long before Jesus came.So I guess circumcision of the heart isnt a New Testament, Gentile thing after all. In fact it was started with the Jews.

  • Non-Messianic: Colossians 2 tells us not to keep the Feasts now or the New Moons or to keep kosher!16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come ; but the body is of Christ.

  • My reply: The Book of Colossians in the New Testament was written to Believers in Jesus. He was saying dont let unbelievers judge you for keeping G-ds Holy Feasts or New Moons or for keeping kosher. In other words, Dont let the bad people judge you for doing what is right.Remember, the Bible was written for the good people.

  • Non-Messianic: Romans 3:20 says Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

  • My reply: Thats right, just keeping the Law doesnt do anyone any good. It has to be done with the right heart motivation. You have to truly love G-d. But if you love G-d you will keep His Commandments. Jesus said, If you love Me, keep My Commandments.

  • Non-Messianic: But Jesus said the Law has been done away with.My reply: No, actually He said the opposite. He said he did not come to abolish the Law.Non-Messianic: But to fulfill it!!! So its fulfilled now.

  • My reply: By fulfilled do you mean its done away with?Non-Messianic: Yes!My reply: So youre saying its abolished?Non-Messianic: Yes! Um, no... Its fulfilled!!!

  • My reply: By fulfilled do you mean we dont have to do it anymore?Non-Messianic: Yes.My reply: Then its abolished!Non-Messianic: No, well you have to be more spiritual to understand it.My reply: No, you have to disregard G-d given sensibilities to understand it your way because Paul said in Romans 7

  • My reply: 12. So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good.See, youre describing the law as if it was something negative that had to be done away with and youve put Law and Grace as opposites. They are not opposites but rather they depend on each other.

  • My reply: The Renewed Covanant (New Testament) is NOT a better covenant it simply needed to be renewed because Israel had broken it in the past. Jesus renewed it for those who Believe in Him and keep His Laws. If you dont believe in the Old Covenant, then you dont believe in the Renewed Covenant because they entail the same thing.

  • My reply: If youve done away with the Old Testament, then youve just gotten rid of the New Testament and youre lost in sin and confusion. Youre looking rather confused right now, would you like to lay down?Non-Messianic: No Im fine.

  • My reply: We have to understand that the Law will never pass away. Matt 5 says18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass , one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled .

  • Non-Messianic: Hasnt the Law been nailed to the Cross though? My reply: If the Law has been nailed to the Cross then that would include the Ten Commandments as well. Then that would mean that we can then go and murder and steal and you know in your heart that cant be true.

  • My reply: Once we understand what G-ds Laws are for, the confusion starts to go away. The Law was given for our benefit so that we could live longer and happier lives. Why would we want to do away with the Law? We have traffic lights here in Wenatchee, Im really thankful for that because otherwise thered be chaos.

  • My reply: Traffic lights are man made laws so how much better do you think G-ds Holy Laws are? We dont even look at it as if we HAVE to keep G-ds Laws, we GET to keep G-ds Holy Laws and anyone who begins to start keeping them

  • My reply: can then count themselves as grafted into the true Olive Tree and then rightly call themselves a part of the Chosen People.Non-Messianic: Galatians 3:10 says the law is a curse. 10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse

  • My reply: Thats actually only half of the verse. The rest says thisas it is written: Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law. The curse isnt the Law The curse is what happens to you if you break it.

  • Non-Messianic: But I dont want to be bound to the Law.My reply: Were all bound to something. Would you prefer to be bound by sin? Because thats what happens if you break G-ds Laws.Non-Messianic: But the Law is such a heavy yoke! Jesus said His yoke was easy.

  • My reply: Anything can become a heavy yoke if its not dealt with properly. For example, I love chocolate cake but if I eat too much chocolate cake all at once, it becomes heavy.G-ds Laws should be taken one step at a time. Once youre comfortable with that step, then take another.

  • My reply: There was a small group in the first century who were trying to make new converts take on all the Laws at once.Thats too much for anyone, even our forefathers couldnt bear that. Thats what Acts 15:10 is talking about when it says

  • My reply: 10 Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear? As a Jew I grew up learning about the Laws one by one, slowly. My dad didnt just throw the whole law at me all at once.It was and should be gradual.

  • My reply: One of the first Laws I like to suggest is keeping the Sabbath.Non-Messianic: How do I do that?My reply: You take a day off.Do you have to work at your job on Saturdays?Non-Messianic: No.My reply: Perfect then you can start keeping G-ds Law concerning the day of rest.

  • Non-Messianic: But I mow my lawn on Saturdays. My reply: Do it on Sunday. Sunday is not a commanded day of rest.Non-Messianic: What benefit do I get if I keep G-ds Laws?My reply: Deut 6:2 says

  • My reply: 2 so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the LORD your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life.

  • My reply: You do this for yourself and for your children. If you dont keep G-ds Laws you cant complain about your children not following G-d no matter how often you pray for them.

  • My reply: Proverbs 28:9: "He that turneth away his ear from hearing the LAW, even his PRAYER shall be an abomination. This is not taught in the Church today but when you reject Gods laws he doesnt accept your prayers. This is a harsh yet Scriptural reality and it effects your children.

  • My reply: If you keep G-ds Laws its not a guarantee that your kids will come to the L-rd but if you dont keep His Laws, you have no grounds to ask for prayer for your children's Salvation. If you want to sit on the fence and not take G-ds Laws seriously, your prayers will be an abomination unto G-d.

  • Non-Messianic: Well, its all a lot to think about. My reply: It is. Weve planted a lot of seed here today.

  • My reply: And Id really suggest that you come to Synagogue and hear more about it or call the Rabbi cause Im sure hed love to meet you because

  • My reply: we wouldnt want to see the seed that was planted in you today to be stolen away by the birds and eaten up like the example in Matt 13:4.Anyway, May G-d be with you as you contemplate what weve covered so far.Non-Messianic: Thank you.My reply: My pleasure.

  • THE END
