^r Lskriitoplter s, atedDuring the Wednesday, November 13assembly program for American EducationWeek, Dr. John M. Hickey, Superintendentof th e E rie public school! system , spoke. Inhis talk, Dr. Hickey stressed a point thatshould be conscious part of every J Catholiclife the Christoph er movem ent.The Christopher has a|purpose to hisl ife: to help others develop a sense of purpose; to bring Christ's presence into daily

routine through his own presence; and tobe an effective instrument of His Truthi andLove. No splash, no fanfare! It is the littlethings tha t change the world. |A philosophy like this gives a reason loreach otherwise mediocre task. Moreover, itis a philosophy like this that gives a reasonfor each otherwise mediocre vocation or job.Every Christian life should contain this ob jective. It should be carried into the classroom (on both sides of the desk), into thehome, into thefoffice, into the lab. There ismore than a matter of choice involved; thereis an obligation.J-The fact that Dr. Hickey, whose workaffects so many people and forms so manypolicies, is aware of his Christopher responsibility is very comforting. But every lifeshould be a life with a purpose.

Second AnnualChristmas Carnival . . .December 6, 7, 8.1These are three facts. Isolate them andthey have as many connotations as there arepeople interpreting them. Combine all threearid they form only one picture a college-styled weekend.I Gannon, as well as the rest of the Erieschools, has done a great deal to promote acommon college atmosphere. More has to beaccomplished but the Christmas Carnival isone of our answers.I The adjectives "Second Annual" meanpast success. Naturally, a success cannot remain as such unless it is improved upon. Asa result,| the Carnival is, to use the pitchman's phrase, "bigger and better."The Gannon Auditorium and the Commons Room will be filled with over fortybooths; and displays particu larily designedto give the maximum in entertainment andthrffis. The Queen Contest, a Mr. and Mrs.Santa Claus, an Italian|Restaurant, valuableprizes, and college-styled games are a fewamong many of our features. We boast experience experience in^esio-nino- a p-ood time.
