The MESSENGER
Volume 6, Issue 7 July 2018
Wow, as we enter into July the summer season is fully upon us!
This is such a fun season for many of us, right? Kids are out of
school, family vacations, swimming, back yard barbecues, camp-
ing, boating, and more! We have already taken a family vacation
(full family…me, Natalie, our kids, my mom/dad, my brother/sister-
in-law and all of their kids) to Disney World! It was crazy hot and
there were lots of people there and the lines were really long, but I
did enjoy spending time with my family! Many of you may have already headed
out on a trip or participated in some stay-cation activities, but I’m sure there’s more
to come with July and August still ahead of us!
With all of the activities to be a part of, however; this can also be a time where
many of us disappear from our church family. We miss a Sunday or two because
of vacation and all of a sudden it just seems a little bit easier to stay home the next
week. Of course, if you have put your faith in Jesus for salvation, the great thing is
that He will be with you wherever you go since He lives in you. And as you make
yourself available to Him each and every day, He will be your Source for life during
all of the various things you have planned for the summer.
So I want to encourage you to make yourself available to Him as you go on va-
cation and spend time with family and friends. Allow Him to be the Center of your
vacation and time with others. Pray with your family and friends, have devotionals
when you are with your family and away from church. Look for ways to be a part
of Jesus’ Kingdom work even while you are on vacation.
At the same time, continue to stay connected to your church family as much as
you can. Hebrews 10:25 says, “Let us not neglect our meeting together, as some
people do, but encourage one another.” God knows that Satan loves to take the
opportunity when we are away from other believers to disrupt our lives and keep
us from living from our true Source. So God puts other people in our lives for en-
couragement and to point us to keep our eyes fixed on Him. Don’t miss out on the
opportunity to corporately worship together and be encouraged this summer.
Also, it is no secret that as many of us miss Sunday worship from time to time, we
also miss the opportunity or forget to give financially to the Kingdom work God is
using this church in. We have made commitments as members to give to the gen-
eral budget and to the Freedom Initiative and want to follow through with those
commitments so that we can continue to do ministry in our church and in this com-
munity He has called us each to. So, if you are going to be out, don’t forget that
you can always mail your gift to the church or go to our website and give online
through e-giving.
Let’s not take a vacation from Jesus and His Kingdom this summer.
In His Name,
Jason White, Lead Pastor

Children’s Ministry Happy July!
We had a wonderful turnout for
VBS again this year! I want to
thank all of the volunteers who
made it so great. I hope you know
how much I appreciate each of
you! It is amazing to see Jesus work in and through all
of you during this special week for the kids in our com-
munity.
This month, we’re going to teach our preschoolers
that God’s Word is with us wherever we go. Also, in
July, we continue our discovery of confidence with our
kindergarten-5th graders. This month we will teach
very important lessons like, trust that God is always with
you, find friends who help you trust Jesus, stay focused
Student Ministry Hey MBC Family!
It’s missions month for our students!!! Ashlee and I are so excited for our students to be
going out and being light to the South San Antonio area. As we continue preparation for
our trip I am reminded of the Gospel of Matthew. In Matthew 10 we see that Jesus sends
out the 12 disciples, but before Jesus does this He tells them to do something very specific.
35 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and
proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. 36 When he
saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep
without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;
38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Matthew
9:35-37 NIV *Italics added)
Before Jesus sends out the disciples He asks them to, “pray earnestly,” and interestingly enough we are
sending 12 people (9 students and 3 leaders) for the harvest. So I ask, will you join us in prayer? Will you pray
that Jesus would use the 12 of us for His Kingdom work and bring the lost to know Him? That He would have a
tremendous harvest during that week and transform the people of South San Antonio’s lives as well as our
own. We are so thankful for all the support that has come through MBC to make this mission trip a possibility
and we ask that you continue your support through prayer.
We love all of you deeply and are excited to see what the Lord does in and through our students, leaders,
and the people of South San Antonio.
Because of Grace,

on Jesus, when Jesus is with you, you can face any-
thing, and live like you believe what God says is
true. I can’t wait to get this month started!

Welcome New Members
MBC’s 100th Anniversary
Help us celebrate 100 years as a church by making a donation to
the 100 year anniversary celebration. You can simply write 100 Year
Anniversary in the memo line of your check when you give, or you
can give online to our designated fund for the 100 year anniversary
celebration.
We are praying that the celebration will go far beyond our walls
and communicate to the unchurched in our community that we
are a church that has been in this community and FOR this commu-
nity for 100 years and that we are going to continue to be a church
that is FOR this community over the next 100 years.
Will you help us celebrate and give God the glory for what He’s accomplished while at the same time ask-
ing Him to continue using us to reach those in this community?
Thank you for being such a committed, loving, welcoming, and inviting church.
Freedom Initiative
Don’t forget...only 8 months left to our 3-year Freedom Initiative Campaign to free MBC from the bondage
of debt.
Let’s finish strong together!
You can give via e-giving (see our website), through your Sunday offering or you can mail your contribution.
Gifts of real property (i.e. land, stock, vehicles or jewelry) may be given by contacting the church office.
